USA news on Youtube Dec 4 2018

MAN: Oh.

Ha-ha.

Ooh.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

It's called "The Crew 2 Demolition Derby."

[MUSIC PLAYING]

MAN: Ooh.

CLAIRE GARIN: As you might have guessed,

it holds a very unique and new gameplay and discipline,

the Demolition Derby.

So basically, the goal is to crush everybody and everything.

How exactly do you win one of those matches?

By crashing into each other the right way.

It depends on whether you're active or passive

during the crashing.

Like, you really want to bump into your opponents

and destroy their parts.

But also, you want to be able to avoid the crash when

you feel like you're really in bad shape.

Yeah.

There were definitely moments where

I was driving with no front tires,

and things get pretty dicey.

MAN: I have no tire.

YOUSSEF MAQUID: Some of the maps do

have sort of environmental hazards and obstacles.

What kind of things do those bring to the table?

CLAIRE GARIN: You have traps like elevators, water pools,

which are deadly to cars, obviously.

MAN: Nope.

Nope.

Aw.

And you have like gigantic boxing gloves

that will hit your car.

And so-- yeah.

You also have ramps.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

[LAUGHTER]

What kind of bonuses can you pick up?

CLAIRE GARIN: Yeah.

So you can get repair bonuses.

So in case you're really in bad shape,

you want to hit those ones.

And you get extra damage bonus.

So that's basically the opposite.

You give more damage to your opponents.

MAN: Ooh.

Oh.

YOUSSEF MAQUID: Demolition Derby, as a discipline,

isn't the only new thing coming with this update, right?

What else is being included?

So it includes new vehicles.

So in addition to the Demolition Derby cars,

including a new single-seater car

from Red Bull, which is one that the players really like.

We're going to have the Bugatti Chiron.

So we're pretty happy to have this one to the lineup.

Yeah.

YOUSSEF MAQUID: Yeah.

Speaking of Bugatti, we got a chance

to try out the hybrid cars in PvP mode, right?

[LAUGHTER]

Tell us a bit about this.

CLAIRE GARIN: PvP is not only about getting the best car.

It's also and mostly about your skills.

We designed the PvP to be a really easy to pick up

and inclusive experience.

That's why, basically everybody can enter.

You can enter PvP as soon as rookie level.

You can even access the hypercar discipline

even though you don't have the right level

to access skills in PvE.

The game actually lends you a car.

And in order to make it fair, all the cars are maxed up.

So this is really about true skills.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

YOUSSEF MAQUID: So players have already

been able to crew up with their friends for co-op PvE.

But how does PvP differ from that?

CLAIRE GARIN: OK.

So PvE is about-- yeah, like you said, cooperation.

You team up with your friends.

It only needs one of you to win in order for the three others

to loot as well.

So yeah.

The challenge is not the same.

You really play together, even though, you know, you'll

look at the leaderboard.

But PvP is really every man for himself.

Everyone is really here for the first place.

MAN: Aw.

Come on.

CLAIRE GARIN: I really love the last shot

you get when you win or not.

It's particularly fun in Demolition Derby

when you have your car smoking and--

YOUSSEF MAQUID: Oh yeah.

CLAIRE GARIN: --all those crash [INAUDIBLE]..

But you still win.

So.

YOUSSEF MAQUID: So Demolition Derby

is also bringing a few new events into the fold

as well, right?

CLAIRE GARIN: Yes, definitely.

And starting with a new "Live Xtrem" series episode.

And this one is a holiday special, because, you know,

December.

But we're also bringing 10 new events

in drifts, a rally cross, and [INAUDIBLE] disciplines, as

well as new skills and a daily contract

that will encourage players to go back to the game,

explore the map every day.

YOUSSEF MAQUID: When can players pick up the Demolition Derby

update?

Well, it's going to be out on December 5th.

And it's completely free for all of our players.

So be there.

MAN: Whoa.

Fighting The DACA Debate When You're Undocumented | Waking Dream Ep. 4 - Duration: 8:16.

(gentle music)

- [Dilan] I'm traveling to Mexico.

I remember the last time I saw my dad

was when I was about 10 years old.

(gentle music)

(moves to deep slow music)

[speaking Spanish]

I actually felt really scared and nervous.

There's a chance that I may not

be able to come back into the US.

My uncles and aunties see that I'm a teacher

and I want to go to law school.

They're like, "Why would you risk that?"

(gentle upbeat music)

(moves into gentle music)

¿Cómo estás?

I was nervous, right? But I definitely made it.

After they put me in Immigration,

I went to secondary inspection.

I was like, that doesn't seem very normal.

Well yeah, whenever they say, "Welcome home,"

it's just really dope. I just felt like,

alright, I'm coming back in.

(gentle music)

I got a little Aztec warrior and I broke him.

I got it for my class, an Aztec calendar.

It's pretty cool.

My Mexico trip was very humbling.

Even though I'm undocumented,

even though I have these obstacles,

I know I have a privilege other people don't.

(gentle music)

You have a privilege of being able to talk about

something that we don't agree with here.

Alright, listen up! This is what we're gonna do.

Well, obviously, we're debating today.

I'm gonna give you 10 minutes to prepare.

The question is, are undocumented immigrants

beneficial to the United States?

You guys are doing, immigrants are not beneficial.

Okay? So prepare for that.

You guys are doing, immigrants are beneficial.

So I had this idea of creating this debate

in classroom. Kind of took a few people off guard

and even the students off guard.

Some of them were like, "Hey, you're undocumented!

Why are you making us look for information

saying undocumented immigrants are not beneficial?"

I want to teach you to have some tolerance

for other people's views and with that tolerance

comes the ability to refute certain arguments

and refute certain ways of thinking

for what you think is right.

Whoever is going to do opening statements step up please.

- Undocumented immigrants pay 6.1 billion dollars

in social security.

- So undocumented immigrants have a higher crime rate.

- Undocumented immigrants are not taking jobs.

They are willing to do the dirty jobs

that us people in the US do not do.

- According to the article, American's jobs

are getting destroyed by new people coming to the community.

- Alright, listen up.

I made it my mission to have my kids understand

where they live, how they live, and how that affects them.

I'm seasoning and preparing these minds to come back

to the community and make it good for everyone else.

(gentle music)

- Coming out of the shadows is also effecting our families.

So how can we as educators provide an opportunity

for these students to feel safe, to feel-

The process of shielding yourself to negative comments

of racism, of, "Why don't you go back to your country?"

Some of us have grown tired of trying

to talk to them to be like, "But I pay taxes.

I pay for my education. I work three jobs."

Whatever they are projecting on us, it's not us.

Us always trying to learn the language,

to sound less Mexican, to blend in.

(audience clapping)

We need to learn to just be proud

of who you are, regardless.

To own the things that you have done for this country

because that's gonna be the best shield that you can have

for all that negativity that we're constantly facing.

(gentle music)

- [Steve] It's hard to get in touch with my sister.

You get a lot of dropped calls,

and then it's just like, "I missed your call,"

and then she misses my call.

(gentle music)

"Hello?"

I try to talk to my family about once a month.

It's mostly small talk just because it's hard to talk

about not knowing when I will see them again

and the uncertainty that we still live in.

(low deep music)

- Will there be a government shutdown?

Democrats fighting for a deal on the Dreamers.

- You want to fix DACA but you also

want to address the root cause problem so that

we don't have a DACA problem in the future.

- March is coming and people

are losing their status everyday.

- I'm looking for something that President Trump supports.

- The majority of the American people,

Republicans and Democrats alike,

all support the passage of a clean Dream Act.

- What's your message to the dreamers?

- We're working on it. We're working on it.

- This is often seen as a Latino issue when really,

it's an issue that affects all of our communities.

I am personally affected by DACA

and my DACA is expiring in March 15

so there's definitely that urgency.

Well, the Dream Act only failed

to pass by two votes in 2010.

- And now, a Dreamer and a DACA recipient, Steve Lee.

(audience clapping and cheering)

- I know what it's like to have

your family being torn apart.

I had to spend for the last six years,

my birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas, without my family.

I am a testament of people coming together

to see an injustice and doing something about it.

All we want is what?

- [Audience] Dream Act!

- Thank you.

- [Steve] But with DACA ending, my protection

from deportation is ending as well.

- [Crowd] This is what community looks like!

- [Steve] That means that ICE could pick me up at any time

and I will be deported back to a country

that I no longer have any roots.

(gentle sad music)

- Identical twins, John and James want nothing more

than to serve in the military.

- [James] Seeing John leave is more sweet than bitter.

If he made it, there's a huge chance of me making it.
