We left the fuzz and craziness of LA behind us...

...we are now on way our to Las Vegas...

...and we will do so by taking a litte stretch of...

...Route 66.

On Route 66 there is a town called Barstow...

...still in California.

We decided to spend the night in Calico...

It's an alternative camp ground...

...in the middle of the desert...

...and the camp ground itself is also a little bit of a ghost town.

Nobody wins.

Good morning...

...and while we are in the Calico area...

...we might as well visit it.

There is an Albert Heijn (Dutch supermarket) coin in here.

We deviated from Route 66...

...because a part of it was closed down.

So we are now on Highway 40...

...and it will not take long before entering into Arizona..

... but ...

we also need to have to lunch...

...while it is 35 celcius/95 Fahrenheit here...

...compliments to the chef.

Oh, Rob, he is stealing our food...

...oh Rob... he is stealing our candy...

...he is taking the candy.

The donkey just took our candy out of the car door...

...he grabbed a bag of candy...

...and started eating.

It's 7.30 pm.

We have reached Kingman, on Route 66.

There is no camp ground in this area...

...but there are plenty of motels around...

...and thanks to the wifi of our friends of...

...McDonalds, we were able to book a decent motel on booking.com.

But first we are heading over to Mr.D'z for dinner on Route 66.

And? How was it? - I am stuffed.

Here, candies.

We just heard that our fridge can not be repaired any more...

...it needs to be replaced...

... but they don't have one on stock unfortunately..

...so the remaining days of our trip we need to improvise with bags of ice...

...and fortunately these can be found in large numbers around here.

We are still on Route 66, but not for long...

...we are now heading for the Grand Canyon.

Do you need a map? - Yes, please.

Apparantly we got the final camp ground available here in Grand Canyon National Park.

We are now going to see how it looks...

I'll ask this final question on the political front.

In Helsinki, you said that you wanted President Trump to win because he favours better relations with Russia.

But in fact, as Russia itself says all of the time, relations between Russia and the United States seem to get worse every day.

Wouldn't it be better for Russia to have a president in the United States

that is not politically compromised by the widely held perception that this country helped him get into the White House?

Firstly, I do not believe President Trump was compromised.

The people elected him, the people voted for him.

There are those who do not like this; those who do not want to respect the opinion of the American voters.

But this is not our business – this is an internal matter of the United States.

Would we be better off or worse? I cannot say either.

As is known, there are no ifs in politics. Maybe it would have been even worse, how are we to know?

We must derive from what is, and work with that.

Good or bad, there is no other President of the United States; there is no other United States either.

We will work. The US is the largest world power,

a leader in many spheres, our natural partner in a variety of projects,

including global security, the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, terrorism, climate change, as well as the environment.

We have a lot of common problems which overlap that we have to work on together.

We presume that sooner or later the moment will come when we will be able to restore full-fledged relations.
