That's what makes the world a better place. You learn from somebody.
You get that knowledge. You try to apply it to your life and give it to the next person.
I think that's what life is. I think that's what makes the world great. You get that knowledge. You try to apply it to your life and give it to the next person.

Coming back to Maryland is home for me. Just seeing your family, your old coaches, friends, everybody.
To actually reach my goal... it's just a surreal feeling. A dream come true.
It feels good and it's my motivation to keep going.
Try to get the next kid's jersey up there and the next kid after that.
I think I met Coach Sego, he coached at Saint Mark's for his first year.
It was my eighth grade year, my last year, and we developed a great relationship. I think I met Coach Sego, he coached at Saint Mark's for his first year.

Coach Sego: When we came into the season Quinn was by far the best player on the team.
He was automatically the leader coming into the season.
When our season ended, Quinn went to DeMatha
and obviously he had a phenomenal first year and we kept in touch.
Then we got even closer when his father got sick.
Quinn Cook: We did everything together. He was like my best friend.
He put the ball in my hands. He taught me how to play. Quinn Cook: We did everything together. He was like my best friend.

He wouldn't care how I played, how many points I scored. He put the ball in my hands. He taught me how to play.

He cared about how I conducted myself as a player, as a man. He wouldn't care how I played, how many points I scored.

I was fortunate enough to have a great relationship with him for 14 years.
Coach Sego: When Ted was sick, he was in the hospital for about a month.
Quinn Cook: I was at the gym, Bowie Gym, me and my best friend Norman Pope.
I got the call and we rushed to the hospital. It was tough. Quinn Cook: I was at the gym, Bowie Gym, me and my best friend Norman Pope.

Something that I never could've dreamed of...
Never thought that could happen. That's when real life really hits you.
But everything happens for a reason. Never thought that could happen. That's when real life really hits you.
But everything happens for a reason.
I knew he was with me more now than ever.
I just wanted to dedicate everything I did to him.
I went to Duke. I loved it. I mean I loved it.
I struggled at times playing. Struggled at times at practice. I went to Duke. I loved it. I mean I loved it.
I struggled at times playing. Struggled at times at practice.
In my four years I don't regret it. I struggled at times playing. Struggled at times at practice.

I just knew I was getting drafted. Everything that I did, I thought I put myself in a great position. In my four years I don't regret it.
I just knew I was getting drafted. Everything that I did, I thought I put myself in a great position.
That's when the business kicks in.
I was surprised I didn't get drafted. I was hurt.
I had that moment in my head for awhile.
I had to wait a year, another year, to finally get a call up.
I was leading the D league and scoring.
Getting everybody saying, 'Just give him a chance.'
Next day I got called up by Golden State. I signed with Golden State. Getting everybody saying, 'Just give him a chance.'
Next day I got called up by Golden State. I signed with Golden State.
The first 14, 15 games I probably played in two of them.
Stephen Curry rolled his ankle and I started starting the majority of the rest of the year.
It's what you dream of. You dream of playing against Lebron, playing against Steph.
And I tried to listen to whatever they give me.
I try to watch them. Every move they make, how they eat, how they stretch.
I always wanted to win a championship.
For me to contribute to a championship at the highest level, it means the world.
I think about my dad everyday with special moments like that. For me to contribute to a championship at the highest level, it means the world.
I think about my dad everyday with special moments like that.
He'd be proud but I think he'd be more proud of the man I've become and how I conduct myself.
Coach Sego: Ted was amazing. Quinn reminds me so much of him now.
You don't see ego at all. He's one of the most humble individuals. Coach Sego: Ted was amazing. Quinn reminds me so much of him now.

For having gone through what he's gone through. You don't see ego at all. He's one of the most humble individuals.

Quinn Cook: I think my biggest thing is I know I'm a good basketball player For having gone through what he's gone through.
Quinn Cook: I think my biggest thing is I know I'm a good basketball player
I know people know me for basketball but a lot of people know me for being an inspiration.
Not just at basketball but for not quitting.
Knowing that you belong somewhere and having a goal and sticking to it.
I knew that I was a great player. I knew I was an NBA player.
I knew that I didn't belong on the D league but it was something I had to go through.
I got through it and my biggest thing is motivating others, inspiring others. I think he'd be proud of that. I knew that I didn't belong on the D league but it was something I had to go through.
