Where we falter is I don't think it's as big of a sport here. But it's constantly
growing and I think just having it in America this year having it in New York,
is just gonna put dodgeball's name on the map.
I probably started close to ten years ago.
Just went with a friend one day and thought this is something
I really want to get into and have been playing ever since.
A friend of mine asked me to come join a league
on Wednesday nights in Albany and it went from there.
My name is Darcy Johnson I'm from Fort Collins, Colorado
and I play for Team USA.
I'm Michelle Radley. I'm from Averill Park, New York,
and I'm part of the womens and mixed Team USA.
everybody knows about baseball, football, soccer all those things and dodgeball
is one of those sports that people think it's kind of something you play in grade school.
Where, we take it very seriously and we're very competitive.
You're working muscles that you don't normally work. It's you go and you think that it's
gonna be a piece of cake, and you're sore for three days afterwards.
There's a lot of strategy that goes into it and a lot of practice and training.
You want to throw together. You think you're gonna throw it as hard as you can by yourself,
and get someone out, it's probably not gonna happen.
A lot of people don't see that side of it. They just think it's all about the 'Dodgeball' movie and they refer
to that a lot with us.
Oh I don't think I'm a lot dumber than you thought that I think that I thought I was once.
It's literally the coolest thing I've ever done.
2016 was amazing. You get to go and play a sport with 13, 14 different nations.
I love meeting everyone from all the other countries. It's a close-knit
family even though we're spread all over the world.
And we all come together and we're competing on the court,
but afterwards were you know having dance-offs, or
it's just, it's a lot of fun you hang out at the court if you're not
playing and you're just you're meeting people from around the world that play
this sport that we all love and we just have that common ground
that not a lot of people have in the world.
The competition is becoming bigger and
bigger throughout the countries they're planning more, they're training more,
they're all coming over to be number one.
We've been prepping for two and a half years since Manchester, for this weekend.
Look out for Team USA this year,
we're coming for everyone.
