Trey Gowdy's Jaw Dropping Announcement Was The One Thing No One Wanted To Hear

Trey Gowdy has played a lead role in some of the key investigations on Capitol Hill.

He chaired the Benghazi Select Committee which exposed Hillary Clinton's illegal server,

and he contributed mightily to the efforts to expose the FBI's abuses in spying on

Donald Trump.

But he shook Washington to its core with what he just announced.

Gowdy stunned political observers when he announced he was resigning from Congress.

He was not expected to face a competitive re-election campaign and he was the Chairman

of the powerful Oversight Committee.

So his resignation took everyone in the Capitol by surprise.

"ANOTHER MEMBER OF CONGRESS ANNOUNCED ON WEDNESDAY THEIR DECISION NOT TO SEEK RE-ELECTION

THIS FALL.

SOUTH CAROLINA REP.

TREY GOWDY SAID HE WILL LEAVE THE HOUSE AND RETURN TO THE JUSTICE SYSTEM.

GOWDY MADE THE ANNOUNCEMENT ON TWITTER, SAYING HE WAS "GRATEFUL FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO

SERVE."

"I WILL NOT BE FILING FOR RE-ELECTION TO CONGRESS NOR SEEKING ANY OTHER POLITICAL OR

ELECTED OFFICE," GOWDY WROTE.

"WHATEVER SKILLS I MAY HAVE ARE BETTER UTILIZED IN A COURTROOM THAN IN CONGRESS, AND I ENJOY

OUR JUSTICE SYSTEM MORE THAN OUR POLITICAL SYSTEM."

"THERE IS NO PERFECT TIME TO MAKE THIS ANNOUNCEMENT, BUT WITH FILING OPENING IN SIX WEEKS, IT IS

IMPORTANT TO GIVE THE WOMEN AND MEN IN SOUTH CAROLINA WHO MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN SERVING

AMPLE TIME TO REFLECT ON THE DECISION."

Gowdy later tweeted out a more detailed explanation for why he was leaving Washington.

Rumors also circulated that the Trump administration wanted Gowdy to take a nomination to the Fourth

Circuit Court of Appeals.

But he turned that down as well.

BREAKING Gingrich Drops Bad News On Mueller's Investigation

The politically-motivated witch hunt for President Trump is a direct attack on We the People.

We elected Trump to exercise our will.

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich warned that the Mueller investigation will

only end with someone in prison.

"They're going to get somebody.

I don't think they're going to get the president, but they're going to get somebody,

and they're going to get him for something.

And they're probably going to go to jail."

Gingrich made the comment while appearing on Sean Hannity's show Friday night.

Gingrich explained that, with so many high-profile lawyers involved, it can only end with a scalp.

Newt Gingrich is a strong supporter of President Trump, and was an early candidate to serve

as Trump's running mate.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed Robert Mueller to lead the investigation into

Russian interference into the 2016 presidential election.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions was forced to recuse himself from the investigation because

of his connection to Donald Trump's presidential campaign.

Rosenstein and Mueller have full control over the probe.

However, since his appointment, Mueller has pursued his investigation aggressively.

It's morphing from a probe into Russian interference into a witch hunt for President

Trump.

The scope of the investigation grows every day.

Mueller recently hired 13 high-profile attorneys to investigate matters related to President

Trump.

Mueller plans to hire even more.

"This is like watching an old-fashioned Western movie," said Gingrich, describing

the investigation.

"This is an Indian hunting party.

They're out looking for a couple scouts, and they're not going to go home until they

get some."

Mueller's hunting party would be embarrassed if they don't land a major arrest.

Mueller's investigation got off to a rocky start.

Multiple illegal leaks have already taken place, indicating that Mueller either cannot

control his investigation — or does not want to.

Critics have also questioned Mueller's friendship with former FBI Director, James Comey.

This investigative witch hunt was exactly what James Comey had in mind when he leaked

classified memos to the press, alleging obstruction of justice.

Comey wanted a special prosecutor, and was pleased when his old friend, Mueller, was

appointed.

Gingrich has referred to Mueller as the spear of the deep state — a man obsessed with

dismantling the Trump presidency from inside.

The Uranium One scandal was perhaps the most corrupt scandal Hillary was caught up in.

Her corruption led towards Russia gaining a portion of the U.S.'s uranium supply.

And now an informant is coming clean, and he just dropped a bombshell that will destroy

Hillary's life.

Uranium One is a Canadian mining company whose sale to a Russian firm was approved by the

U.S. government in 2010.

Since the sale, information has come out showing that the sale was approved due to shady negotiation

tactics, involving bribes, kickbacks, and other dirty tactics in order to influence

then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Those tactics included donations to the Clinton Foundation, and paying massive speaking fees

to Bill Clinton.

And now an FBI informant who was involved in the Uranium One deal has dropped even more

incriminating evidence against Hillary Clinton.

The informant, Douglas Campbell, testified to Congress that Moscow paid millions of dollars

to a U.S. lobbying firm in order to influence Hillary Clinton by helping Bill Clinton's

charities.

Campbell stated that Russian executives told him they were hiring APCO Worldwide in order

to influence Clinton and the Obama administration.

The contract called for four payments over 12 months, and that "APCO was expected to

give assistance free of charge to the Clinton Global Initiative as part of their effort

to create a favorable environment to ensure the Obama administration made affirmative

decisions on everything from Uranium One to the US-Russia Civilian Nuclear Cooperation

agreement."

CAMPBELL TESTIFIED, ACCORDING TO THE HILL, THAT RUSSIAN NUCLEAR OFFICIALS "TOLD ME

AT VARIOUS TIMES THAT THEY EXPECTED APCO TO APPLY A PORTION OF THE $3 MILLION ANNUAL LOBBYING

FEE IT WAS RECEIVING FROM THE RUSSIANS TO PROVIDE IN-KIND SUPPORT FOR THE CLINTON'S

GLOBAL INITIATIVE."

"THE CONTRACT CALLED FOR FOUR PAYMENTS OF $750,000 OVER 12 MONTHS.

MADE AFFIRMATIVE DECISIONS ON EVERYTHING FROM URANIUM ONE TO THE U.S.-RUSSIA CIVILIAN NUCLEAR

COOPERATION AGREEMENT.

APCO OFFICIALS TOLD THE HILL THAT ITS SUPPORT FOR THE CLINTON GLOBAL INITIATIVE (CGI) AND

ITS WORK WITH RUSSIA WERE NOT CONNECTED IN ANY WAY, AND INVOLVED DIFFERENT DIVISIONS

OF THE FIRM.

THEY ALSO SAID THEIR LOBBYING FOR RUSSIA DID NOT INVOLVE URANIUM ONE BUT INSTEAD FOCUSED

ON REGULATORY ISSUES AIMED AT HELPING RUSSIA BETTER COMPETE FOR NUCLEAR FUEL CONTRACTS

INSIDE THE UNITED STATES."

This testimony is perhaps the most damning evidence of corruption yet presented against

Hillary Clinton.

Robert Mueller breathed new life into his sputtering witch hunt.

He's found no evidence of collusion with Russia so he's desperate for a silver bullet

to take down the President.

And now he's reached an agreement that could be bad news for Trump.

Rick Gates was the deputy to Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort.

He was charged along with Manafort last fall on a number of counts relating to their work

as foreign lobbyists from 2006 to 2014, long before they ever entered Trump's orbit.

Now Gates is about strike a deal with the special counsel.

The Daily Caller reports:

FORMER TRUMP CAMPAIGN ADVISER RICK GATES IS REPORTEDLY PREPARING TO ACCEPT A PLEA DEAL

WITH THE SPECIAL COUNSEL'S OFFICE.

GATES HAS BEEN IN NEGOTIATIONS WITH MUELLER'S PROSECUTORS FOR ROUGHLY A MONTH, ACCORDING

TO CNN.

HE WAS INDICTED IN OCTOBER ALONG WITH HIS BUSINESS PARTNER, FORMER TRUMP CAMPAIGN CHAIRMAN

PAUL MANAFORT.

GATES AND MANAFORT WERE INDICTED FOR MONEY LAUNDERING AND OTHER CRIMES RELATED TO POLITICAL

CONSULTING WORK THEY DID WELL BEFORE JOINING THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN FOR A UKRAINIAN POLITICAL

PARTY.

GATES HAS ALREADY MET WITH MUELLER'S TEAM IN WHAT'S KNOWN AS A "QUEEN FOR A DAY"

SESSION, ACCORDING TO CNN.

IN SUCH MEETINGS, DEFENDANTS ARE GENERALLY ALLOWED TO SPEAK FREELY ABOUT OTHER CRIMES

THAT THEY WITNESSED IN EXCHANGE FOR ASSURANCES THAT THEIR WORDS WILL NOT BE USED AGAINST

THEM."

Mueller would surely be interested in a deal if Gates is able to provide information that

moves his faltering collusion investigation forward.

But can Gates do that?

The Daily Caller reports the White House is not worried about anything Gates could tell

Mueller:

IT IS UNCLEAR IF GATES PLANS TO SHARE INFORMATION STRICTLY RELATED TO MANAFORT OR IF HE HAS

DAMNING INFORMATION ABOUT THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN.

A WHITE HOUSE OFFICIAL TOLD CNN THAT THERE IS LITTLE CONCERN IN THE ADMINISTRATION THAT

A GATES PLEA DEAL WILL HARM TRUMP.

"THERE'D BE NO ANXIETY HERE," THE OFFICIAL SAID."

Mueller's collusion investigation is taking its dying breaths.

No one has found any evidence of collusion.

But it's not been for a lack of trying.

The FBI has spent 18 months digging into the Trump campaign and Russia and have come up

empty.

It is exactly what Donald Trump said it was – a witch hunt.

There is little chance Gates will be able to provide any new information on Russian

collusion.

But Mueller will press forward because he is desperate to find anything he can use to

try and drive the President from office.
