I'd like to speak about trying out a new place to retire to moving somewhere new

requires a real commitment of time and effort and not the least of which is

money wouldn't it be great if you could first try out a new place before you

decided to to move there permanently when you retire here's some ways you can

get to know your desired location even better before you make a life-changing

commitment first you should visit during the most extreme seasons at least during

the winter and winter and summer live in the community for a while if you've not

yet retired try to arrange your vacations or your time off and work to

visit the area that you're interested in you can do this each year even if it's

just for a week or two a year your new area should be safe and secure

as possible this means a low crime rate and involved community and people who

care about each other of course that would be good if every if every place

was like that speak to the residents in the situations where they can be honest

one of the best ways to get the truth is to subscribe to the local newspaper

consider your health care needs does your new location offer the types of

providers that you need right now does it have a diverse group of specialists

and a well-regarded hospital within a reasonable distance look ahead 10 to 20

years in the future do you see any negative trends in the in the community

with any of the issues that we've discussed above what quality of what

quality of life issues attracts you are you interested in art museums or drama

fine dining music crafts festivals or men do you like barbecue cook-offs and

country music festivals maybe you like rock and roll and finally

ensured that the number but the money numbers really work for you maybe this

should be at the top of the list because it seems to drive everything else that
