Today's topic is how I shoot stabilized video
during my trips
The latest smartphone is
quipped with image stabilization function
It's usable but if you are looking for perfect footage
It's not enough
shakes will still be visible if you handheld like this
That's why u might want some help from accessories
You may want to add this...
Tripod!
It's a classic way to stabilize your shooting
And it works for both photo & video shooting
But if you want to shoot while moving
It might not be enough to use tripod only
Even though it lets you to hold steadily on the phone
Still you won't get perfect result of stabilization
This is why another accessory comes into place...
Smartphone 3-way gimbal!
With the gimbal on
All hand shakes will be absorbed
So the footages will be very stable
like those you see from the movies
But there is a down side of using it
It's quite bulky to carry
especially when u are travelling
or on the day u don't want to bring a bag
u need to figure out how to carry it
Seems I have found a good compromise after..
I got this Insta360 One camera
They claim it has a powerful stabilization function
called FlowState
which can shoot perfect stabilized videos
without the need of a tripod or a gimbal
Let's see how powerful is it!

We bought the half price tickets
and enter the Mystic Seaport Museum
Ticket will be half price
from 4pm to 5pm
The boats are opened to visitors
until 5pm, but you can walk around the area
until 6pm before they close the gates
I have mentioned this Insta360 One camera
has a feature called FlowState
How to make it work? It's indeed really simple
Just start recording and moving
You don't need to do anything actually
Why? The app does it for you!
It automatically stabilize the video for you
Just like using a 3-way gimbal
What's the trick behind?
By shootinfg 360 degree It knows exactly what movements it had
When you move your hand
The camera rotate the sphere to match that movement

This camera really can do what it claims
Stabilize video without using a gimbal
or a tripod
But is there any downside of
using this software base stabilization?
