Bill Clinton Was Shut Down By One Tweet About An Ugly Scandal From His Past
Bill Clinton just stepped in it big time.
The former President tried to join the liberal pile-on regarding Donald Trump's immigration
crackdown.
But Clinton was shut down by one tweet about an ugly scandal from his past.
Democrats and their allies in the media believe they have found an issue that can damage Trump.
In April, the Department of Justice announced a new "zero tolerance" policy for illegal
aliens caught trying to sneak into the country.
The Trump administration began referring all illegal border crossings for criminal prosecution.
Illegal aliens had been bringing their children with them because they believed they could
use their kids as human shields to gain entry into America.
Previous administrations implemented the policy of "catch and release" whereby the illegal
aliens would be given a court date for their deportation hearing and released into the
public.
Trump's zero tolerance policy ended this practice.
Because of previous court cases, the children of illegal aliens can only be held for 20
days.
So the Trump administration set up dormitories to house the illegal alien minors while their
parents' cases were adjudicated.
Liberals erupted in outrage and accused the administration of running Nazi-style concentration
camps.
Bill Clinton added his voice to this smear campaign.
On Father's Day, he took to Twitter to blast Trump for "separating" fathers from their
kids.
Clinton wrote:
"ON THIS FATHER'S DAY I'M THINKING OF THE THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN SEPARATED FROM THEIR
PARENTS AT THE BORDER.
THESE CHILDREN SHOULD NOT BE A NEGOTIATING TOOL.
AND REUNITING THEM WITH THEIR FAMILIES WOULD REAFFIRM AMERICA'S BELIEF IN & SUPPORT FOR
ALL PARENTS WHO LOVE THEIR CHILDREN."
Big mistake.
Conservative commentator Stephen Miller fired back with a cutting tweet of an image of one
of Clinton's worse scandals.
Back in 2000, Elian Gonzalez was a six-year-old Cuban boy who fled Cuba with his mother to
immigrate to the United States.
Gonzalez survived the trip after the boat they were traveling in became disabled and
took on water.
He was recovered by Immigration and Naturalization Services and released to his paternal grandfather
in Miami.
Gonzalez became the centerpiece of a custody battle where his father and the Cuban government
demanded he be returned to the communist dictatorship.
Eventually, the Clinton administration agreed.
Attorney General Janet Reno ordered federal agents to storm into Gonzalez's relative's
house and yank the boy away at gunpoint and then return him to Cuba.
Democrats looking to make hay out of this scandal are being forced to reckon with two
realities.
First, this also happened under Presidents of their party.
Members of the media pushed a photograph from 2014 of children in cages to falsely claim
Trump was treating illegal alien children like dogs.
While the Obama administration practiced catch and release, unaccompanied illegal alien children
were held in detention centers.
Second, Democrats don't want enforcement of the nation's immigration laws.
They want complete open borders and a flood of illegal aliens to enter the country because
they believe they give them amnesty and turn them into reliable Democrat voters.
Donald Trump won the Presidency because of his tough stance on illegal immigration.
His supporters hope he continues to stand strong in the face of liberal hypocrisy and
smears.
