Many things stand out from my trip to Coimbatore, but the first thing I have to mention is meeting up with students.
I had the privilege and the challenge of going face to face with students,
and the honor of speaking at a graduation.
Coimbatore's universities are some of the best in the country, and that was clear from my encounters, and
interactions with the students
My favorite takeaway was when he spoke about innovation
and he said India and the U.S., and the two countries where risks are also promoted, and new ideas are also developed.
He emphasized on the U.S.-India trade relations.
I enjoyed when he spoke about women entrepreneurship,
because being a woman, I felt really motivated,
and had a clear picture of what and how a woman entrepreneur works in this scenario.
I also got to meet up with business
associations including the Indo American Chamber of Commerce, the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the FICCI FLO.
What struck me in all of these encounters, with the education institutions,
visiting particular businesses and
visiting the agricultural lands, was the spirit of entrepreneurship that tied everything together.
I was struck by the close ties
between Coimbatore and the United States. I see so many opportunities for deeper
cooperation and expansion of those ties.
