hello everyone this is Ariane Arsenault from La Fille de la Mer and today my daughters are
on school break so we're not making soap we are making SLIME!
this is my daughter Jolyanne, she's 7 years old and this is Karelle, she is 6 years old.
So what's your favorite slime Karelle? That we're gonna be making today? Yes
we're gonna be making fluffy slime. The original recipe that got us into making
slime was from Gillian Bower and she has a YouTube channel on slime and on
other lifestyle things and we will link her video that inspired us, but
of course I am a soapmaker and for people who make slime and who love slime
a soapmaker's workshop is pretty much a slime paradise! We have all of the
colorants, we have all of the glitter, the fragrances... So the only thing that was
missing in my workshop to make slime was actually the glue and perhaps the
shaving cream! Everything else we had on hand!
We have the pump soap that I make myself, we have some lotion that I make myself.
I made a slime recipe, a fluffy slime recipe that we can make using my
cosmetics into it, that smells awesome and that has amazing colors right! And
it is kid-approved! So let's get to it! To make slime you're gonna need a couple
ingredients: in the recipe that we're gonna be using we have some canola oil,
some shaving cream, some moisturizing lotion, we have some washable school glue,
this is the activator which is a solution of borax and distilled water,
and then we have the hand soap which is a pump hand soap if you want you can add
some liquid germ all plus which is a preservative and it will make the slime
actually last longer. As far as equipment goes we're gonna use a scale a measuring cup,
a stirring spoon, a measuring spoon, a big bowl and a spatula and
two lovely assistants! Karelle is adding one cup of distilled water into the cup
and we're gonna microwave this just to warm the water a little bit. It will help
the borax dissolve. Being a soap maker I always have some borax on hand and
mommy's gonna do this step, so I'm adding... oops! Just half a teaspoon of borax and
Jolyanne is gonna stir this in until it's all dissolved. Once the borax solution is
completely dissolved we are going to transfer to this little container as it
is easier to handle. Let me check this... Looking good and into our little
container! Now what is the first ingredient that goes in slime girls? Glue!
okay because I am a soap maker I always like to measure out everything I do so I
put my cup on a scale but you can totally eye-ball this and go with the
cup measure. I'm going to put the glue in the cup! How much? One cup of glue! Because my daughters
love to make slime we got a big gallon size glue! This is a the Prang
washable glue we bought this one because the Elmer's was out of stock the first time
we ordered, but you can also use Elmer's school glue which will work great.
Alright we got a cup! okay so this is one cup of glue!
What is the next ingredient Juolyanne? I don't know!? The shaving cream!
you want to put it a shaving cream in okay okay. How much?
one cup! I think we're good and we're gonna put this in the big big bowl!
go ahead Jolyanne okay do you need help? no! yes! yeah... no! make sure everything
is in the bowl okay and now Karelle what are we gonna put
in the bowl next? Soap! Open it up! How much? One cup! okay squirt it in there!
this is a little bit difficult let me help you, there we go, pump soap into the cup!
and this is um liquid hand soap that we make here but you can use any
pump like oh don't eat that! Now we're gonna need to pick a color, what color
are we gonna make this slime? Orange? We could make it orange. In the soap shop we
use FD&C colorants to make soap and bath bombs and all these things and we've
tested them in slime and they work out wonderfully: you can show! This is a
really nice teal, this is amethyst and this is hot pink and you want orange so
let's go get the orange and test this one out okay so here we have a little
bottle of FD&C orange it's from Fizz Fairy and Krazycolours Canada it's a
brand new color we only got it recently. These are extremely pigmented dyes and
they need to be used in really really really tiny little amounts . I have
these tiny little scoops and these colors need to be bloomed with water in
order to fully bloom and show and reveal their true colors. I'm
gonna put just one little mini spoon in, here don't stir right away Karelle okay?
Don't stir right away, the next ingredient we're going to need for this
awesome slime is some cornstarch and we are using, there's already a measuring
scoop in here, so is the cornstarch so we are adding three tablespoons of
cornstarch and again you're gonna stir this in please and we learned that
cornstarch helps with the texture and the structure of this slime. Stir it in!
Because we want our fluffy slime to be super stretchy we're gonna
add some skin lotion. You want to help me squeeze it in? We're gonna squeeze one,
two, and three! so like three squirts of lotion, that's good enough!
Let me put this one in... stir it very well and our lotions being
smells like pomegranate so it gives also a good smell to the slime. Because we
made this nice orange color slime what are we gonna put into it so that smells
extra good? Orange fragrance! Let me go get the fragrance. This is a fragrance
oil from Nature's Garden Candles and it's called mmm sweet orange and chili peppers.
We're just gonna add like 1/4 of a cap and stir it in very slowly.
This is a preservative called liquid germall plus, it is widely used in
skincare. That's what we use to preserve our skincare line, our
lotions, moisturizing creams and so on. so we just need a little bit: I'm putting
one gram into this recipe which equals to 0.2 % of the formula.
mmm does it smell good? Smells super awesome! When making slime you want to
make sure that your mixture is fully mixed before adding in the activator!
This will avoid having any clumps, any irregularities in your slime and it will
be super nice, soft, glossy and stretchy! Now we're gonna put the activator!
squirt a little bit at a time, not on Jolyanne's hand! A little more, okay
Now you can stir. Karelle add the borax, okay. Now stir Jolyanne! As we stir it
gets more difficult to stir sometimes you may need mommie's help right?
Can I give a little stir? Don't put borax, wait a minute, I need to check the texture
of this fine slime! Yes we can put some more borax, okay, not too much
and we're gonna stir until this slime doesn't stick to the bowl anymore like
it does right now. It's gonna start sticking to itself and it's gonna
thicken up and the more we stir the more the borax will be activated. You can poke it!
okay
do you want to do the poke test? yeah touch it!
oh and you Jolyanne? yeah Oh still a little bit sticky right okay oh it's it's getting
there but it's still a little bit sticky so we're gonna add a little touch of borax.
and then I'm gonna show you my final little touch to make this
slime really nice, stretchy and that it doesn't stick to your finger as much oh
this is looking good you want to bring in the oil Karelle?
thank you! thank you so much! so our slime is pretty awesome right now
it's very nice, fluffy, puffy! It looks like kind of a whipped cream texture
we're gonna add just a little drop of canola oil. Or vegetable oil, you could
use baby oil. We like to use canola oil so I just added a little bit, maybe like
half a teaspoon and we're gonna stir this in. It's going to coat the slime and
then you're gonna be able to put it on the table. You guys want to start
kneading it? Wait! Share with your sister! Split it in half and now
you're gonna be kneading it by hand and we have these really nice stainless
steel work tables which is awesome! So How is it? Can you stretch it? Stretch it!
Wow
see this is our slime and the texture is really nice, it barely sticks to our hands!
and the more it's going to rest, the better it's gonna get! mm-hmm
You want to try to make a slime balloon? yeah yeah okay big! Show how
to make the slime balloon! Oops! Oh wow! Karelle! That's a good one! Look at this slime baloon! Super awesome!
Let me check the texture of yours, all right?
Super nice and stretchy
it's been crazy like since the Easter break we have been making so much slime!
oh! and what the girls love to do is slime balloons! Isn't that super awesome!?
it's like the biggest giant like bubblegum bubble ever! We just got some
little foam beads and Karelle wanted to add some of the rainbow beads into her
slime. We're just gonna put a little... and can you kneed it in? There we go and
you too yeah, that's enough! yep! Gives a neat texture to the slime. Oh yeah!
What you're gonna do when you're done playing with your slime, is you're going to
take it and you're gonna put it into a little container so that it won't dry up.
Like this. Now always be careful when playing with slime because slime will
stick to fabrics! If you guys have a holiday and need a
fun activity to make with your kids now you can make slime! I will list the
recipe down below as well as most of the supplies you need. Most of the things you
can get on Amazon, the cornstarch you can get at a grocery store, the liquid germall plus
which extends the shelf life of the slime I get from a wholesale supplier so
I don't know maybe I'll be able to find it on Amazon. Hopefully! I will leave
all the links. Make sure you always supervise your kids when making slime
because borax should not be taken internally, it shouldn't be swallowed
or anything! So just make sure that you are always around when making slime with
your kids so that everything is done safely. And let me know if you like
the recipe and I will see you again in a more bubbly and soapy video. You want to
say bye girls? Bye!!! They can't see your face right now! Bye bye!
I have slime on my finger wow that's a really big slime balloon
