BREAKING: California On HIGH ALERT Authorities Release Statement- Here's What We Know.

Scientists are now saying that the "Big One" in California may not be caused by

the San Andreas fault line, but by the Hayward Bay fault line.

It is now thought to be the "ticking time bomb" fault line and more dangerous than

the San Andreas.

The scariest scenario for the next major earthquake may not be from the San Andreas Fault (though

that one still threatens), but from the Hayward Fault that runs along the east side of the

San Francisco Bay.

In fact, many say that the next earthquake on the Hayward Bay fault line would be "disastrous."

According to KTUV, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake along the Hayward Fault could kill as many

as 800 people and injure 18,000, according to results of a new research released Wednesday.

The U.S. Geological Survey, citing findings from a simulated tremor with an epicenter

in Oakland, said the disaster would cause 400 fires that could destroy 50,000 homes.

Nearly half a million people would be displaced, authorities said.

USGS: This shows the scenario of a 6.8 earthquake on the Hayward Fault

The simulated quake in the video above, known as the "HayWired scenario," was modeled

to occur at 4:18 p.m. on April 18.

It replicates a rupture along the fault's entire 52-mile length, from San Pablo Bay

in the north to just east of San Jose in the south.

According to this model, the violent shaking from the earthquake could cause the two sides

of the fault to split six feet apart in some places.

Some of the aftershocks would continue for several months as well.

Cities in the East Bay would be hit hard, including Berkeley, Oakland, San Leandro,

and Hayward.

If a 7.0 magnitude quake occurred like the one simulated, researchers say that the East

Bay residents could be without water from anywhere between six weeks to six months.

Electricity could be out for up to four weeks in some locations.

According to Business Insider, the statistical chances of this type of an earthquake occurring

are not very comforting either.

There's about a 76% chance that the San Francisco Bay Area could experience a 7.2

magnitude earthquake within the next 30 years, according to some recent reports.

The San Andreas Fault under San Francisco rumbled apart about 112 years ago, causing

the devastating 1906 earthquake that swallowed city blocks, broke water mains, and triggered

massive fires that burned for days.

However, the threat of another major quake for the Bay Area is "real and could happen

at any time," according to researchers for the US Geological Survey.

The Hayward Fault is a "tectonic time bomb, due any time for another magnitude 6.8 to

7.0 earthquake," according to a 2008 USGS report.

Since then, research has indicated that the likelihood of a Hayward quake is greater and

more threatening to the 7 million Bay Area residents than a San Andreas quake would be.

"It's just waiting to go off," USGS earthquake geologist emeritus David Schwartz

warned when speaking to the Los Angeles Times.

How to travel the world with a small budget? - Duration: 16:42.

Are you avoid traveling because you do not have enough money?

Hi, I'm Pascal, and welcome to this fifth training capsule,

to help you on your next trip.

Today, I want to prove to you that you are probably missing a lot less money

than you think to go on an adventure.

By the end of this capsule, I will developed on three points which represents about 90%

of expenses in a trip.

That we can avoid.

For those who do not know me yet, I crossed Japan by bike, Canada

and the United States by car, the European Alps through Italy, Liechtenstein,

Switzerland, all the way to France on the summit of Mont Blanc.

I also crossed Bermuda by bike ...

Well that's maybe not a big feat.

But I still have plenty of projects in mind.

A question that people ask me frequently is how much does it cost me all these trips?

Very honestly, I never calculated the cost of my travels.

I have an idea, but this is not important.

I tell myself that the memories I keep in memory and personal enrichment that

I keep from each of my adventures are definitely worth much more than

the money i've spent.

And talk about money by addressing me to such a large audience, it's useless.

Everything is a question of perspective.

I am a middle-class Canadian makes a good living, but if I go to Switzerland,

my money is worthless and the prices are higher ...

So I am poor.

On the other hand, 100km from my home, there is the United States, again, my canadian

money worth much less.

But prices are so much lower that I still feel richer.

And if I go to several Asian countries or South America, I'm going to feel

as the richest man in the world.

So, as everything is a question of perspective, and that everything depends on where come from and where

you go, it gives me absolutely nothing to talk to you about numbers today

So good bye!

If you came to listen to me, it's because like me, money is a concern for you.

You work hard to win it, the cost of life is higher than ever,

but you want to enjoy life and visit countries.

But you do not want to do it because traveling have the reputation of being very expensive.

But why is it expensive?

Because there are three elements that cost a lot, who in thinking about it covers

about 90% of the budget of a trip.

And in many cases, you can put a cross on it.

Airplanes, hotels, and restaurants.

Does it sound crazy?

Well, the plane, it can be an indispensable for multiple destinations.

If you really want to fly, next week, I will go into detail on the subject.

But for today, we will avoid it, because that it's really expensive.

If you've ever seen the world and you live in North America or Europe, you can

travel by car very easily and that does not really cost so much.

I can already ear some of you tell me, yeah, but in Europe the roads have tolls .

No ... Take Google Map, pick yourself a point of departure and arrival, and selects

the option '' avoid Tolls ''.

Look, in a minute I've been able to make a 10 310km route that runs through the

Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, the Czech Republic, Luxembourg,

Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia,

Russia Finland, Sweden and Norway without any toll route.

At the top, if you already have a car, that only costs you gas.

If you do not have one, buy an old Toyota, and sell it at the end of your trip, it

will not have lost much in value.

Unless you have an accident.

The trips I made with my car have most certainly be the least expensive.

Example, in my trip to Canada, in four weeks I crossed Quebec, Ontario,

Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.

And I came back to by the United States.

I then crossed the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Colorado,

Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York.

In this four-week trip, I visited the biggest cities of each

province that I crossed, so Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon, Edmonton and Vancouver.

If we add the cities of the United States that I visited very quickly, I

also seen Seattle, Portland, Salt Lake City, Denver, Kansas City, St. Louis, Indiana Polis and many others.

In addition to all that, I crossed the Great Lakes, biking in the most beautiful mountains of Jasper ...

There are many mountains in Jasper!

I visited the Arthabaska River, the Mount Edith Cavell, crossed the rocky,

Lake Louise, Kamloops, Okanaghan Valley, at Squamish I drove a plane in

mountains, go rafting and come out my bike,

in Whistler I jumped into bungee and two days later I jumped from a parachute plane.

And I probably forget a lot.

Oufff ... That makes a lot of destinations.

And if we do a quick calculation, in this trip, I traveled about 13'000 KM.

My car consumes an average of 6 liters per 100km.

So 13'000 divided by 100 give us 130, 130 multiplied by 6 that gives us 780

liters, multiplied by approximately $ 1.20 per liter, it gives us $ 936.

In today's conversion, it's about 550 euros.

It's still a good amount, I've traveled four weeks and I've seen so many places.

And it's much cheaper than many destinations round trip by plane.

And I was traveling alone, imagine if you travel with a friend, or two, or three.

The gas bill can be divided.

You can also travel by bike.

In my opinion, this is the best way to discover a country and once your bike

is paid, it only costs water and a lot of food to roll it.

Yes because the engine is you.

What's great about cycling is that since you will burn a lot of calories, you will be able to ...

No, actually, you'll have to stuff yourself and taste all kinds of good things.

In Japan, I burned more than 5000 calories a day.

So I had to eat them back.

And of course when we eat two main plates, you can have two desserts.

Eh yes! That's how life works.

And by bike, you will really live the place that you visit.

The people you will meet will want to approach you, you will be able to breathe the places you visit,

you will go to majestic places in the middle of no one by that most people

do not have the chance to see and you're even to be able to make you catch in the rain.

Oh no it's true, it's not very positive.

Now let's talk about our second point, the hotels.

Yes, it's famous hotels.

Do you really need it?

This is probably one of the most lucrative industries in the world but I do not understand

it.

Generally, a hotel room costs alone, is more expensive than everything

that you can spend in a traveling day.

It does not really make sense to me cause when we think about it, all you're going to do is have it in

wash and sleep.

Well, to save on hotels, there are several options.

When you rent a room of a hotel, you buy comfort.

So if you want to save ... you're going to have less comfort.

That means you risk to get out of your comfort zone.

And you have to be ready for that.

It's not easy the first time.

But tell yourself that the more you suffer, the more you will you realize all the luck that

you have in everyday life.

The first step to reduce the cost of a hotel, and therefore the comfort,

it's the youth hostels.

Don't worry, even if you have gray hair on your head you can go to sleep in a hostel.

They do not refuse the old ones.

There are people of all ages.

The principle of a youth hostel is instead of renting a room, you rent a bed.

And the beds are in dormitories, so you will sleep with other people.

Not in the same bed, in the same room.

Com on!

More beds they are in the room, less expensive the bed will be, and less well you'll sleep.

Yes, because there is always at least one stupid guy who was not well educated and who

does not care about respect for others.

-AH IT IS MIDNIGHT I SHOULD GO TO BED.

--AH! I forgot to brush my teeth, there is a sink in the room I could do that here.

-No but it's dark eh!

-Well... Where is my toothbrush.

--AH! I got it!!!

-AHHHHH

-Good, I can go to bed.

-The light!

Be careful, he will surely fall asleep very quickly and he will snore the asshole!

I do not exaggerate, I did not invent anything, it was a mini compilation of lived.

But do not worry, it's not so bad to sleep in dormitory.

As I said, it was a compilation.

You'll have a shower, but it will not not be a private one, and depending on the country

you are in, it may mean that you're going to wash in the same shower as

someone else who just finished to wash, or, that you will wash yourself in

a large shared shower with other people.

But the night will have cost you between 10 to 25 percent of the price of a basic hotel room.

It means that for the price of one night at the hotel, you can sleep from 4 to 10 nights in a hostel.

-Moreover, most youth hostels also include breakfast, and a

passes to use public transport from the city for the whole day for free.

And usually if we add the lunch and public transit, it's worth about

the price of the night at the inn.

And almost all of those who I visited was really very clean.

Especially in Switzerland.

I had the impression that the showers and the toilets were cleaned more often

that they were used.

And what is great about youth hostels, is that you will meet all full of

people who have lots of interesting things to tell, like you, because they are traveling.

There are also sites like couchsurfing.com, I do not want to go into detail because

that I have not tried it yet, but the idea is that someone invites you

to sleep on his sofa at home and he's even going often offer you dinner for free.

And why do people do that?

Probably because he gives back to the next, because they've already slept with someone

for free, so they only want give back to the next, and that allows them to

traveling staying home because they receive people from all around the globe, at home.

Otherwise, you can sleep in a tent, on a park bench or in a shelter.

You're not going to die, and you'll surely really appreciate the comfort of your little one at home when you come back.

Yes, your crappy bed will seem more cozy, your fridge making noise will become your best friend,

your roof cracking ...

A roof…

Do you realize how lucky you are to have a ceiling above your head?

Go to sleep a few nights under the stars and we'll talk about it again.

My favorite solution to spend the night is to sleep in the trunk of my car.

Buy yourself a small inflatable mattress, then drop the windows a little to have

fresh air and that's it, it's free and still quite comfortable.

So what I just did is that I transferred all my luggage to the front of the vehicle.

And in the back well I just rolled out my mattress who's inflating itself.

So that's my room for tonight.

While he is inflating and well I'm going to go visit the bathroom.

You can even park in one place very quiet with a beautiful view.

Just make sure you have a woodlot in proximity and toilet paper.

Make popo a little guy, it never kill anyone.

Snif snif.

It just does not smell very good.

To wash yourself, there are plenty of options, campsites often have showers,

trucks stop too, in the US for $8 I had a nice full bathroom

and she was washed between each use.

Otherwise, well ... there are also lakes.

And you do not really need to wash every night.

My trip to Canada was spread over 28 days and I slept in my suitcase every night.

Imagine, if a hotel room costs On average $100 a night, I saved $ 2800.

In my opinion, I was paid $ 2800 to sleep in the trunk of my car for a month.

Would you do it too?

If you spend the night in the parking lots super market, getting up the next morning,

you can go to the bathroom and pick you up a healthy breakfast.

Fruit, cheese, yogurt, bread.

There is all that in the grocery stores.

And it's a lot cheaper than at the restaurant.

Speaking of restaurants, that brings us to last point, the restaurants.

I'm not saying to put a cross on it.

No, because in my opinion, the regime of a people is one of the main factors

who differentiate one culture from another.

So to live well in a country, you have to eat in restaurants.

It's also a great opportunity to meet people.

For my part, I try to keep only dinner in the restaurants.

If you listen to me from anywhere else that in Quebec, ''souper'' is what you call dinner.

When you go to a restaurant, you pay for table service, the cook,

decoration, administration, diver and in addition to having to leave a tip,

it's taxable.

So what if you go get some stuff ate at a grocery store or a convenience store

or a small local shop, you'll be able to find products you know, or that

you will be able to discover, for a fraction of the price.

And like food, it's an essential good, often it's not even taxable.

And in my head, go get me something to eat in a grocery store, a convenience store,

or a restaurant, I do not count that like an expense because

whether traveling or not, you have to eat.

In short, go less to the restaurant, discover the small specialized shops, trucks

street food, convenience stores and convenience stores and you'll save a lot of money on food.

So this is it, the goal today was to prove to you that if you are ready to do

some sacrifice, you are probably missing a lot less money than

you thought to go on an adventure.

Try it, and you'll realize fast enough that the most memorable moments

occur beyond the comfort zone.

If you want to be inspired by my less expensive adventure, you can go see my

Canada Documentary.

I traveled it by car and by bike, I slept in my car every night and I

ate most of the time in grocery stores.

So if we exclude activities, I calculate that this trip cost me nothing but gas.

I hope you enjoyed the capsule, if so, you can give me an thumbs up

I made this capsule following Pierre question, maybe the next one will be in answer to yours.

So, don't be shy.

Come on, just a quick question here.

Thank you for listening to me, and see you next week.

If you absolutely want to fly, I will give you my personal advice to find the right flight.
