USA news on Youtube Apr 13 2018

Woah, woah! Pablo, you got a fish!

[Nathan] Pablo!

[breathless] What's going on, guys?

Today, I'm going to show you guys how to use

the home-made medicine bottle chum rig.

Stay tuned for more!

I made a chum rig out of a medicine bottle,

and this idea was inspired

by one of our active members and admins on our, uh,

Senko Skipper Fishing Community Facebook Group,

um, anyways, he posted

a home-made contraption like this,

and I was like, "Wow, this is, this is really cool,"

this reminds me of the chum rig I used not too long ago,

but this is homemade. [Erin] Cool.

So Stephen "Beach Boy" Tang,

thank you very much for the idea,

um, this is the first time trying it,

so in here i've filled it with fish guts,

uh, grass shrimp,

uh, dead blood worms,

a bunch of nasty stuff in there,

um, just to add more scent to it.

So, look, I'm going to fill it with

some grass shrimp here,

there's like, guts,

[Erin] Guts?

Yeah, this is from, this is from the other perch

that we ate...

and then there's like, dead blood worms

just fill it with some scraps, basically, [Erin] Mhmm.

things that'll smell.

So now, the idea behind this is

this will attract a whole bunch of different fish,

but the fish cannot eat

through these little holes, [Erin] Mhmm.

so what they do is, instead of hitting that,

they're attracted to this, but then they see this nice, juicy blood worm

and they'll hit the bloodworm.

Or, you know, it attracts little perch

*clears throat* and then maybe a striped bass will see that a lot of perch are gathering here,

I'm going to try and eat one.

Ha ha.

[Nice.]

Look at this.

So this is how I put the bloodworms on--

ooh-- careful, 'cause these teeth come out.

[Wait, let me see?] You see?

Ah, well, it's going back in now.

[It's okay.]

See, it went back in...

So, I like to hook it in like this

just like that.

Nice chunk.

...and this is why they call them bloodworms, look at my fingers

[Ew...]

[*high pitched* Eww!!]

Okay, so I've tied this on to a Paternoster Rig,

[Mhmm.] I've got a swivel here, so it doesn't get all tangled up,

um, filled the inside of this with

with chum,

let's give it a cast!

See what happens!

[Nathan] Oh, I hope to god it doesn't get stuck down there...

Retrieve it, fast!

[Nathan laughing] Oh my god!

[Nathan continuing to laugh] Okay...

What the heck?

*Erin giggling*

Ready?

[Yeah.]

*Erin laughing*

[You got it?]

[Yeah, it's still draining...]

This bell

will alert me

if anything taps my line.

This tube

will hold my rod

until I get a bite.

and now, I can start a fire, I can cook,

I can hang out

and wait for this alarm to go off.

What the--?

[Oh my gosh.]

[Oh my gosh!] Ho ho!!

Two perch!

[Two!]

On the chum bucket rig!

[Oh, those are great, look at them.] [Oh my gosh.] Woooah!

[Oh my goodness] Nice. [Oh, those are like footballs, look at them.]

[So fat.]

Awesome.

This is so cool.

So this chum

really did make a difference.

Two at a time!

On the circle hooks.

Perfect.

Two keeper perch because of the chum rig.

So, in this rig I put, um, fish guts, I put

grass shrimp, I put

a lot of nasty stuff in here

and it has attracted these two fish to eat.

Well I guess-- so I'm going to fill this chum rig back up

because I want some fresh, new scent

and I've got, like

intestines, roe,

all sorts of gunky stuff,

this will definitely attract fish!

I'm tellin' ya now.

Cool.

Pablo.

*bell jingling* Pablo!

[Yeah.]

[He's on, I've got him.]

Oh, did you change the battery, Erin? [Yes, I did.]

He came off.

You got something?

*bells jingling*

I gotta go, there's fish.

[Yeah,] [Woahh!]

[Whoo!]

[What'd you get?]

[Oh, that's two perch, easy!]

[Ah!]

I got another one on the chum rig,

working really well,

and the circle hooks work really well too, they just set themselves.

Circle hooks are great for

for not gut hooting---

for not gut hooking fish.

You don't want to gut hook a fish

because that will kill them.

Yeah, it's eight inches.

Wow, honestly, I didn't think that it would be that quick

I would start catching perch,

but yeah, we're catching one after another

bite after bite,

um, only problem I see with the chum rig is that it is a little bit bulky,

so it has been kinda snagging me a little bit,

but I haven't lost it yet and it's been, it's been great.

If anyone needs help on beach fishing or pier fishing,

I want to introduce you to our new store,

it's in the link below,

we specialize in helping people get on fish

so check out our store,

maybe we can help you guys.

[Ah, Brendon.]

*jingling*

Ha ha, [ooh!]

[You've got two?]

What the--?

It's not moving anymore.

[Maybe they weren't quite, uh, hooked.]

[You might have scared them off.]

You found it!!!

Yes!!

My bells!

[Wait, she--?] She found my bells.

[Erin laughing]

You-- you can see the color! I can't see that.

I can't see it on the ground-- women have

women can see

a broader spectrum of colors than males can,

and I keep losing these bells,

and either Erin or Kayla find them for me every time.

Nice.

I mean, the regular rig is working too,

[But it caught a small one.] The regular rig is working too,

it's just, I'm getting more bites on the chum rig.

[Yeah.]

*jingling*

So I just want to talk to everyone about

if--about--

keeping fish.

So, for me,

I keep the amount of fish that I'm going to eat,

no more...

...

Yeah, I keep the amount of fish [*jingling* ] that I'm going to eat....

[You got it?]

I don't know, just leave it for now.

There's a--there's a cirlce hook, you'll be fine.

So I only keep the fish that I'm going to eat,

if the fish are too small,

I throw them back,

you know, if I have too much fish,

I throw 'em back,

and I think that's important

so that we can keep the population of our fish up.

If everyone took all the fish they caught,

we might not be fishing today.

I'm going to get the rig up, okay? [Yeah.]

*jingling*

[You're on, man]

*jingling*

Oh yeah, it's on.

I got one, I think.

Chum rig.

Oh yeah, I got something for sure.

Ah, a nice one!

[Oooh!]

Ho! [That's a fat boi.]

That is a fat one!

This chum rig!

With the circle hooks...

I'm going to make an episode just teaching you guys how to make this,

or you can check out

Stephen "Beach Boy" Tang,

uh, you can check out his channel,

he's the one who taught me how to make this,

um, check his channel out

if you want to learn.

But that's a nice sized, dinner sized perch right there.

and now, when you're fishing for like, fish like this, perch,

you're going to catch a lot,

and um,

you're going to catch a lot,

that are under sized

what you want to do

is instead of use J hooks, which can get stuck in their stomach,

maybe think about using circle hooks,

circle hooks are designed to not gut hook,

it'll come out and just get hooked on the side of the mouth every time.

so think about using circle hooks.

Look at that!

I had such a good time catching fish

and grilling it on the grill here,

um, and building a fire, hanging out,

pitching a tent, it was a really great way to spend the day at the beach,

even though we didn't catch any of the big stripers we were hoping for,

the migration just hasn't come yet,

there was a cold snap three or four days ago,

and uh, sent a lot of fish back,

even though we didn't catch any huge fish,

had a great time catching the perch,

those are really tasty fish,

thank you guys for watching,

tune in every Thursday night at 7:30 PM EST,

uh, if you want to be notified every time we post a new episode,

The Story of Tetris World Champion Steve "The Woz" Wozniak! GameBoy High Score By Evets Kainzow GTV - Duration: 10:30.

Tetris.

An iconic classic game.

Simple, but complex.

Frustrating, yet addictive.

And every game is different each time you play.

It may be the one game that transcends time and lives forever.

Tetris has been played on computers, mobile phones, on the TV and in its countless forms

has made fans all over the world.

And one of them, who held a high score record for Tetris for over 25 years is… one of

the founders of Apple?

It's true!

In this episode let's take a look at "The Story of Tetris World Champion Steve….

Wozniak!"

When it comes to Tetris, no formal introduction is needed.

If you know how to use a computer, a phone, even a calculator!

You've certainly come across the game.

Created by Alexey Pajitnov behind the Iron Curtain in the USSR in 1984, the game passed

through to the Free World, through some licensing deals by various companies including SEGA

and Atari Games, but eventually falling to Nintendo, who brought the game to the mainstream

by releasing versions for the Nintendo Entertainment System and GameBoy in 1989 With a few sequels

and variants following.

Today the game is owned by the Tetris Company which means I guess Tetris became self aware

and then emancipated itself...

Most younger gamers, those who didn't have access to computers first got a look at this

game in Nintendo Power.

The in-house publicity arm of Nintendo of America.

Part of Nintendo's strategy was to announce Tetris being bundled with the GameBoy upon

release.

making it an instant killer app as millions of people, including a large number of adults,

ran out to get a GameBoy simply to get a quick fix of Tetris.

There's something else in Nintendo Power that connects with where all of this is going.

That's the High Score Board.

Originally called NES Achievers and later, Power Players.

To qualify all you had to do was to take any game bearing the "Seal of Quality" get

a amazingly high score and then take a photo of the TV, wait to get it developed because

it was the 1980s and send it in to Nintendo Power.

Honestly I don't know which one is more doable (finishing Legacy of The Wizard) or

actually getting the camera to get a picture that clearly showed the tv.

Nintendo Power also showed you how to take a picture they make it look like mom is willing

to help out, but my mom just yelled at me to quit wasting film, because it NEVER worked!!!

Now I remember this from back in the old days!

As a kid I had loads of free time and did actually compare my own scores with the ones

in Nintendo Power.

I about hit the ceiling when CJ from my home town of McKees Rocks, PA maxed out the score

on super Mario 3 Way to go!

This one always threw me.

From the July 1991 issue the high score for the GameBoy version of Tetris goes to Evets

Kanizow!

Now I clearly remember this because when I read it, I LITERALLY said out loud, EVETS?

What the heck kind of name is that?

That is the weirdest name I've EVER seen.

Who would name their kid EVETS?????

It kind of reminds me of EPOR from Shadowgate.

But that aside this insanely high score and crazy name always stuck in my mind.

Time moved on as it always does and in the Present Day,  co-founder Steve "The Woz"

Wozniak disclosed on his own website, woz.org, that HE was the mysterious Evets.

In an email he posted there, a fan asks Woz if he is still interested in computer games.

Woz replied

"I am extremely good at Tetris on the Gameboy and had my name listed in Nintendo Power magazine

a few times in the early days for my top scores.

After they wouldn't print my name any more I submitted an entry with my names spelled

backwards, Evets Kainzow, and they printed it!

When I saw the issue, I'd forgotten that I'd sent it in and was worried that someone was

challenging my own level!

My current high score is 702,000 and my goal is 750,000.

I gave GameBoys to Gorbachev and Bush when they were in office.

A week or so later Bush had heart problems.

On TV he was shown playing the Game Boy in the hospital."

Woah wait, what???

That's a lot to digest!

He actually had a subscription to Nintendo Power?

He gave Bush and Gorby GameBoys as a present?

Let's search the all knowing trash heap called Google and see if this all checks out.

Now I DO remember Evets Kainzow from way back when, but Woz was in Nintendo Power several

times?

The Trash Heap doesn't lie!

In the October November 1990 issue of Nintendo Power, featuring Dr. Mario on the cover, there

was a high score of 507,110 on the GameBoy version of Tetris by one Steve Wozniak of

Los Gatos, California.

Some other decent scores are up there too and the only score that broke 6 digits in

previous issues was 127,446 in July 1990.

But Steve clearly destroyed them all!

What's more, as a high profile person, Nintendo Power actually printed some photos of when

Woz actually got the high score in The January 1991 issue.

So not only does he have an unbeatable Tetris score, and he somehow pulled off the miracle

of getting a clear photo, just barely, he also did it aboard the famous Concorde super

sonic jet!

Talk about a Trifecta!

He also says he got that score on July 26th 1990.

The next issue, February 1991 didn't feature Woz and none of the scores were close to his.

Actually about 6 months go by and no more mention of Woz, this is probably where he

says he sent newer scores and they didn't print it.

But he would turn up again in July 1991 with his name spelled backwards, EVETS KAINZOW.

And again with a crushingly high score, this time 546,145 points!

He also is listed as being from Saratoga, California.

Which by checking the map shows Saratoga is pretty much across the street from Los Gatos.

I just can't imagine The Woz sitting at home just chillin, reading Nintendo Power!

Then he forgot about the high score and thought Evets was someone else?

Musta been a funny sight!

The statement about the meetings checks out.

But Woz seems to have met them separately.

And the 41st president was in the hospital on May 4 1991 which means that a lot of this

was happening WHILE Woz was frustratingly getting rejected by Nintendo Power and then

came up with his Alter Ego: Evets.

The closest score to Woz's record came in October 1992 with a score of 531,022 points.

Still short of the record.

In 1993, the format of Power Players changed and Nintendo Power issued a series of challenges

on specific games.

By this point the NES Super NES and Gameboy are all active with about 1000 games released

across all 3.

So it would make sense to try and rein things in as the feature never went past two pages

Does Woz's record still stand?

When we come back, a look at claims to the title in Modern Times.

And a look at some other points of note Woz has made over the years.

Break!

Tetris is far from the only quirky trivia associated with Woz.

While he is synonymous with Apple, Woz brogrammed the arcade game "Breakout" for Atari in

1976.

Steve Jobs was employed by Atari at the time, but the credit should go to Woz.

He programmed it so tightly that Nolan Bushnell and Atari couldn't figure out how to duplicate

the process for mass production.

Woz also enjoys card and table games.

Its been explained in other interviews over the years, but Woz was actually in some hot

water for carrying around a pad of questionable $2 bills and used them in Las Vegas.

Its also anecdotal evidence but in the definitive, ultimate Apple biopic, "Pirates of Silicon

Valley" Woz is seen playing Asteroids on Atari in a hospital bed while recovering from

a plane crash that he had in 1981.

In the book iWoz, Woz says gaming helped him rehab short term memory loss.

Ok, so Woz is actually a hardcore gamer and has the pedigree to prove it.

but what of the high score?

Does 546,165 STILL stand?

After Nintendo Power, what was there?

In Modern Times, most stand by Twin Galaxies, which has in recent years partnered with the

Guinness Book as the official record keepers for video game high scores.

Twin galaxies accepts Woz's score from October 1990 and even acknowledging the date of July

26th, 1990!

I'm glad I mentioned that before! but the one submitted as Evets Kainzow is not here.

Currently he is ranked 8th with the record breaking score certified on November 28th,

2005, with a score of 589,694.

Which means Woz's record stood for 25 years, 4 moths and 2 days.

The current record is 752,668.

But wait!

In the email reply, Woz said he current best is 702,000 and his goal is 750,000!

While that can't be Twin Galaxies verified, I believe him and that would give him 3rd

place overall.

So here's my call out to Steve The Woz Wozniak!

Train hard and get back into the game!

Go beyond your goal of 750000 and once again reclaim your rightful place as GameBoy Tetris

World Champion.

You got this!

Is this the worst thing Trump did to America? What CLOUD Act means for you - Duration: 8:17.

This is not an exaggeration or a hyperbole.

Signing the Omnibus Spending Bill on March 23, 2018, Trump did his worst disservice to

the American people during his presidency.

That's because with the bill he also signed into law an act that completely rewrites the

democratic principles of the criminal justice system.

With one signature, all Americans and many more millions of people around the world have

lost their protection from unreasonable search and seizure.

No probable cause is needed to access their personal information from now on.

And the presumption of innocence has just acquired a fresh new design – guilty until

found evidence.

This is what the controversial CLOUD Act is going to mean for you.

The Clarifying Lawful Overseas Use of Data Act is a bill that enables the US government

or any other foreign government the United States has surveillance partnerships with

to obtain private user data without a warrant or a probable cause.

The US or foreign law enforcement would obtain the user data directly from private companies,

without notifying the individual, or the law enforcement of said country.

Of course, the bill managed to mention that foreign governments shouldn't intentionally

target U.S. citizens.

But that's not how this works on the ground.

Remember the section 702 extension that gave Trump unlimited surveillance power over US citizens?

It's illegal for the government to target its own citizens.

So the Section 702 of the FISA bill allows the government to collect private data of

American people from surveillance of foreign targets that might share a communications

vector with those American people.

This bill works in reverse.

Prior to the CLOUD Act, if US persons had their data held in overseas data centers of

an American company, like Facebook, Apple, or Microsoft, companies could have defended

against complying with such data requests by citing overseas protections in a foreign jurisdiction.

CLOUD Act changes everything.

It strips away American companies of any protection from unwarranted data requests.

Under the CLOUD Act the US government doesn't have to go to court or ask the foreign government

to compel a data disclosure.

They go directly to the US company and CLOUD Act legally obliges them to comply.

But the way CLOUD Act is framed also allows foreign governments to go to US companies

with data requests.

All they need to say is that their intent is a foreign target.

But given the nature of online communications, that can expand to surveillance of millions

of innocent people.

If you struggle to grasp how foreign surveillance affects interception of domestic communication,

the Snowden movie offers a great explanation.

To better visuals how CLOUD Act could be abused by foreign governments on the ground, the

EFF provides an exemplary demonstration.

"London investigators want the private Slack messages of a Londoner they suspect of bank fraud.

The London police could go directly to Slack,

a U.S. company, to request and collect those messages.

The London police would not necessarily need prior judicial review for this request.

The London police would not be required to notify U.S. law enforcement about this request.

The London police would not need a probable cause warrant for this collection.

Predictably, in this request, the London police might also collect Slack messages written

by U.S. persons communicating with the Londoner suspected of bank fraud.

Those messages could be read, stored, and potentially shared, all without the U.S. person

knowing about it.

Those messages, if shared with U.S. law enforcement, could be used to criminally charge the U.S.

person in a U.S. court, even though a warrant was never issued."

This treatment is a galactic mile step backwards.

It enables law enforcement to keep digging into private data of people until they find

whatever slightly incriminating evidence about them.

With CLOUD Act in existence people are no longer treated as citizens,

but as enemies of the state.

Maybe you're asking yourself: how did all this happen?

In 1986 the US Congress approved the Stored Communications Act that required that service

providers disclose their electronic communications, like phone records, and user data.

Fast forward today, cloud computing and cloud services emerge and data are now stored internationally,

which the SCA did not cover.

That means the US law enforcement has no legal teeth to require US companies to hand over

data produced in clouds hosted abroad.

This manifested itself in the case the United States v. Microsoft Corp. where Microsoft

contested the government's request to access emails of a suspect in a drug trafficking case.

Microsoft lost the case in the New York District Court but appealed for the Second Circuit

which ruled in their favor.

Microsoft did hand over account details to the US Government, but argued that accessing

emails stored abroad is outside of the US jurisdiction.

The US government appealed to the Supreme Court where hearings started in October 2017.

Three Justices of the Supreme Court suggested that the issue should be resolved legally,

rather than judicially.

On February 6, 2018, Senator Hatch and Representative Collins

introduced the CLOUD Act for the first time.

Microsoft all of a sudden applauded the legislation and reiterated their unquestionable support.

"More than anything, we now need governments to move forward quickly to put new international

agreements in place.

... The ultimate goal - one that is likely to take some additional years to achieve -- is

a set of agreements that create an accepted model and establish clear international legal

rules that satisfy law enforcement and privacy advocates alike,"

It is 8:00 pm, March 22nd, 2018, the night before the Congressional vote on the Omnibus.

The CLOUD Act, which had never been vetted nor had it received a hearing, is added to

the bill without any review or committee mark-up.

Given that every Congress person had only a minute per page if they wanted to read through

the 2,232-page document, it is safe to presume the majority of them were not even aware of the bill.

Except for Rand Paul and Ron Wyden.

This is how the US government built a backdoor into 4th amendment for foreign governments

to spy on their own citizens.

So what can you do?

You need to avoid services provided by US companies, or companies residing in one of

the US surveillance partners.

These include all the 5-eyes, 9-eyes and preferably even 14-eyes countries.

The absolute red flag are Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, France, and Israel.

These countries can be considered as enemies of the Internet.

Switch to an encrypted email provider.

The best option is Protonmail, Posteo, Tutanota, and Disroot.

Whenever you need to use a cloud storage, encrypt everything with Cryptomator.

Use encrypted instant messengers like Signal, Wire, or Cryptocat.

Be vigilant.

Privacy you lose today will be abused by someone in a few years' time.

It happened before, it will happen again.

That's why they do it.

Thanks for watching.
