What is up with all the clocks?

Hey everyone, Dana here!

And today is the first #FragDana video.

For future videos I am actually planning to answer more than just one question per video,

but I have gotten this question so many times, and while I believe that I touched on it a little

bit way back in my very first Q&A video, that was a pretty long time ago and I don't think

that I went into all the details about the background.

So I'm going kick the new series off with that general much-asked question today:

why all the clocks?

Is there some kind of bigger meaning here, or is it just that I like clocks?

So first of all, no it is not that I just like clocks.

I mean, I do like clocks, I guess.

They're great for telling time, but the background here is not about some kind of

interest that I have in clocks.

When I decided to start the Living Abroad series I had in mind to talk about travel

and different places and my experiences traveling and going to different places and cultures

and languages, so the idea for the clocks came from the sort of stereotypical newsroom

set up, where you have a clock with the time in London and you have a clock with the time

in New York and you have a clock with the time in Sydney.

But instead of just having plain old black and white clocks that all looked the same,

I wanted to have a bunch of different-looking, colorful clocks, and instead of having these

big cities from around the world like London and New York and Sydney, I wanted to have

places that were a little bit lesser known.

Or even a fictional place.

At the beginning we actually had a white wall with all different clocks, and when choosing the

cities or towns for those clocks, Stefan and I just sat down together and picked them out.

But then about a year in we created the blue wall and I needed some new cities and towns

to go with the new clocks, and so I asked in one of the videos back then for suggestions.

So some of these names, for example I believe Frankenmuth and maybe Nuuk, came from the

suggestions under that video, and some of them were, once again, ones that Stefan and

I decided on.

I believe that it was my dad who actually gave us the suggestion of Chicken, which is

in Alaska.

And this Torquay here is talking about the one in Australia. Not the one in the UK.

And then we have Bielefeld. This one over here is in India.

One of our friends went to university there.

And this one, Mos Eisley, from Star Wars, of course. Of course.

This one was at some point in time a real edible pretzel.

Now, however, obviously it's definitely not edible anymore.

But I took the pretzel and I dried it out by heating it in the oven at a really, really low temperature

over several hours, and then I glazed it with lacquer.

This one I made with small pieces from magazines that I rolled up into, kind of little straws

and then I rolled the straws into the circle designs.

And I've also made some coasters and some placemats with that technique.

Um, oh!

This one we printed out the twelves and put them in there.

So it was 12 going all around the clock. I thought that was really clever.

I really like that one. Kind of spooky, right? Ooooh!

It's always...I want to say it's always 12 after 12, but of course it's not 12 after 12.

It's always the time after...never mind. It's kind of spooky, right?

But why are the clocks not working?

Why are they all turned off?

Two reasons: number one, do you know how much ticking goes on when you have 7 clocks all

ticking together? No? Well it's a lot of ticking.

Which was both annoying and distracting when we were filming, as well as annoying and distracting

when just hanging out because this background here is located in our kitchen.

So we would have the ticking constantly going on when cooking, when eating, when just hanging out.

All the time. Ticking ticking ticking of the clocks. I like clocks but not that much.

And number two: I don't say my entire videos all the way through in one long take.

There are cuts in my videos.

There was one. And there. And there. And there was another one.

And having the clocks actually turned on and running was really distracting.

Sometimes there could be a couple minutes between parts of a video, or maybe I grab

something to drink or I take a break or whatever and then there's a longer break, so then

the clocks just flick from one time to the next in between the two cuts, and it was just,

it was really jarring how the clocks kept flicking to a new time throughout the video.

So that's the story behind the clocks on the wall.

Plus, yeah, we also thought that if we're going to have this little "studio" in

our kitchen, then it should be something that we wouldn't mind looking at while we ate dinner.

And, yeah, I don't mind looking at it. I like it. Looks nice in the kitchen.

So my question for you is: If you make videos, how did you come up with your background?

And if you don't make videos what kind of video background would you want to have if you did?

And what other questions do you have for me?

About life, about living abroad, about making videos?

Please let me know in the comments below with the hashtag #FragDana.

And yes, you did notice correctly, if you noticed it at all, that that is a different

hashtag from what I mentioned before.

And you're more than welcome to ask why down in the comments as a #FragDana question.

Thanks so much for watching.

It was a lot of clock ticking.

I mean...

Botox for Men by David Bushore, M.D. | Balcones Dermatology & Aesthetics | Ph: 512-459-4869 - Duration: 2:18.

- Hello, I'm Dr. David Bushore.

I'm a board certified dermatologist

and the sole owner here at Balcones Dermatology and Aesthetics.

Today, I'm gonna be talking about Botox for men.

So, cosmetic treatments always sound

like it's supposed to be something for women

but it's becoming a lot more common for men.

We refer to it as even facial rejuvenation

but I do approach things differently for men than women.

Three main areas that we treat with Botox,

one is in between the brows right here, it's called the glabella area.

Crows feet, out here and then forehead lines.

The approach is different

so that for men, the muscles my be stronger

in what are called the corrugator muscles in between the eyes,

so do do higher doses there.

Why would you do this?

So, one is that the corrugator muscles

start creating a line there

and they bring the medial brows down.

When your medial brows come down,

it can be sometimes seen as make you look intimidating

and harder for people to feel comfortable approaching you

and things like that that may play a role,

fair or not, in being judged

without somebody actually knowing you.

So when we do the Botox injections here,

it will relax those muscles, allow that brow to lift back up

and the, here's the part you probably didn't know.

So, when we relax those muscles,

they've done studies and shown that it actually does treat depression.

It doesn't make a difference if there's lines there or not

but actually relaxing those muscles

has been shown to help treat depression.

Doesn't matter if you're 60 years old and you have a line there

that we do even fix with the Botox but it does treat depression.

The other places that we treat, one is the crow's feet area.

We treat that differently,

than we do in women.

For men, we want to treat a little bit lower.

Because if we treat too high, it may actually lift the brow a little bit.

And then the other place is the forehead.

So for the forehead, we may have to do higher doses than for women.

We also want to even that out and maintain

still some movement.

I think it just doesn't look natural if we don't

maintain some movement there.

So that's lowdown on Botox

and I'll see you next time.

China and Russia could make attack from space claim US defense officials in

stark warning China and Russia are developing weapons that have the power

to destroy American satellites in the event of a conflict a top general warned

lawmakers yesterday according to reports US Defense Intelligence Agency director

Lieutenant General Robert Ashley spoke to the Senate Armed Services Committee

alongside National Intelligence director Dan Coates to make the stark warning mr.

Ashley said they understand the dependencies that we have on space and

so they're developing capabilities for how to counter that whether it's a

direct energy weapon that is terrestrial whether it is a co orbital attack

satellite whether it's jamming from the ground so they're looking at strategies

and how they develop really kind of a layered approach to deny us that

capability because they realize how integral it is not only for us but it

will be integral for them as well both men agreed the u.s.

currently has a significant advantage over Chinese and Russian space

capabilities dot however they also believe both adversaries intend to

neutralize set inequality with anti-satellite weapon REE such an attack

would wreak havoc on GPS systems and other satellite based technology used by

both private and military sectors they feel the weapons would target not only

government satellites but military civil or commercial space systems mr. coats

specified Russian and Chinese destructive a SAP weapons probably will

reach initial operational capability in the next few years

the duo's testimony further solidified a fear which has become increasingly

alarming for US policymakers in the last few months in a prepared statement

Ashley wrote that China currently regards its space capabilities as part

of a barricade against third party intervention in a regional conflict such

as a Taiwan contingency writing of similar Russian intent mr.

Ashley wrote Moscow has concluded that gaining and maintaining supremacy in

space will have a decisive impact on the outcome of future conflicts and is

developing counter space systems to hold us space assets at risk meanwhile mr.

Coates added Russia and China continued to publicly and diplomatically promote

international agreements on the non weaponization of space and no first

placement of weapons in space dot however many classes of weapons would

not be addressed by such proposals allowing them to continue their pursuit

of space warfare capabilities while publicly maintaining that space must be

a peaceful domain the men were warned of major military power between China and

Russia referring to the international development of ballistic missiles cruise

missiles and hypersonic glide vehicles which could counter ballistic missile

defense systems in sobering conclusion mr. Ashley said the security environment

is becoming more complex with our adversaries determined pursuit of

advanced technologies across multiple domains to include cyber space and

weapons of mass destruction expanding regional and global ambitions in the

serious persistent threat from terrorism these risks pose an increasing challenge

to our warfighters decision-makers in the intelligence community

Pol-Cat Poultice Review - Duration: 1:01.

KELCIE: Hi, I'm Kelcie. I work in Marketing, and today

I'm going to be reviewing the Pol-Cat Poultice.

This poultice is a staple in my tack trunk.

I always use it on my horse after a show or after

a hard ride. What I love the most about

it is that it's so easy to apply.

I will typically use this poultice

under standing wraps, but it can be used by itself.

And when you're done it's really easy to take off

your horse's legs — you just got to brush it off or It rinses

off with water. This is a clay-based poultice,

which also has added minerals and essential oils,

which makes me feel really good about putting it on my horse and

I know that she's going to be comfortable.

This poultice does a really great job of pulling heat away

from my horse's legs so I think that it's a great option for any

post workout maintenance. It's just important to remember

that when you're using this product make sure you close

the lid when you're done because you don't want to show up

and have the poultice be dry. The poultice is available

in a couple different sizes of buckets and at least the one

that I've bought I know has lasted me a show season.

I'm Kelcie, and I always have the Pol-Cat Poultice on hand

for my horse after a hard training ride.
