The Houston Rockets NBA-best winning streak came to an end on Friday courtesy of the Toronto

Raptors.

The Rockets entered the game riding 17 consecutive victories dating back to Jan. 26.

The Raptors came out on top 108-105 in a matchup of the top seeds from each conferences, despite

a 40-point effort from MVP candidate James Harden.

Although the Rockets trailed for nearly the entire game, they managed to position themselves

for a comeback win in the final seconds.

There were multiple opportunities to pull ahead, but it did not materialize.

Harden was nonchalant about the outcome post-game, claiming that the rare feeling of defeat doesn't

hold any barring on his psyche.

"I don't even feel like we lost," Harden said.

"Same swagger.

Ain't nothing changed.

(It's) one game."

A strong opening quarter from the Raptors created a 16-point deficit on the scorecard.

In the second quarter, the margin teetered between 12 and 19 points, and it wasn't until

the second half that the Rockets began to find a groove.

"We just had a lot of opportunities and we just didn't convert on them," Harden said.

"No matter who you play you can't give up 20 points on the road and not expect it to

be challenging to come back.

Obviously that's a great team down there.

We got down 20 points and in the second half we played our game, but that was the result."

Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni was also optimistic following the loss.

He said his team showed admirable fight despite not having its best night, and considering

the game marked the end of six of seven games on the road, he's not taking the defeat particularly

hard.

"There was some great things that we did," D'Antoni said.

"I thought we fought hard.

They played extremely well, especially in the first quarter, and in the whole game.

They are who they are.

They played great and hit big shots and hats off to those guys.

... So be it.

We've got to back and get another streak."

Chris Paul shouldered blame for the loss, pointing to a missed three-pointer from the

corner late in the game as a shot he's "got to make."

Paul said the fact the Rockets didn't roll over when the Raptors opened up the 19-point

lead is a sign of resilience.

With the winning streak now in the past, he said the Rockets are prepared to turn the

page to the next game and begin another winning streak.

"That (streak) was cool, but it's more about how we played," Paul said.

"We showed fight and came back into the game, but down the stretch I have to be better.

We can't rely on James to do everything and make all those shots that he did.

I think that's probably the thing I'm most frustrated about.

Otherwise we are cool.

"The streak is what is it.

Now we have Dallas on Sunday and have to get ready for that."
