in this episode we're taking a look at the gen 2 version of the Magpul
industries mbus flip up iron sights both front and rear version there are B
seller on Amazon you can buy them separately or together suffice to say if
you're trying to make a decision on whether to buy these or not I've already
done the research and what follows is the result of that research we're going
to be talking about the positive reviews the critical reviews and some points to
consider hopefully by the end of that you will be in a good position to make
your own judgment call so to start things off with the positive review
highlights there's seven main points of praise that I noted in the research the
first one is first of all that they good they work they solid they're stable they
do the job that they're supposed to do the second point appraises that they are
very light with different people talking about this in different ways basically
they are a polymer material instead of a heavier metal and you know this is very
popular with a lot of people the third point of praise is that they are
reasonably priced for what they are and a lot of people consider a very good
value for a solid pair of iron sites using the word iron sights a little bit
loosely because obviously like I said they are made of the polymer number four
that are very easy to put on and remove number five there's three different
options for deploying them which is popular with people now basically
there's a little tab on the left or tab on the right or you can press the top so
whatever angle you're coming at it easy to deploy you're not restricted to just
one way of doing it number six now not everyone was aware of this but it is a
popular feature is it has two different aperture sizes one is for you know
target shooting it's a smaller smaller aperture but you can also change it to
the bigger aperture for speed shooting number seven people describe that they
co-witness quite well with the variety of options and you know obviously they
can be folded down when not in use so those are the main reasons that you'd
want to consider buying it and white what positive reviewers talked about in
their reviews moving on to things to consider now this isn't my neutral
category and you just make your own judgment call as to whether any of these
things are applicable to you or not the first thing to consider is it is
emphasized that this is not for use on a railed gas block the second thing to
consider is in regards to adjusting the front sight it comes with a tool for
doing so some reviewers expressed that they wish you didn't have to have the
tool that you could just have a thumb adjustment wheel like Magpul has on the
pro vision of the sights now the alternative to this that some reviewers
mentioned is if you've got a ar-15 with the hollow pistol grip to store the
front sight adjustment tool in there instead so there's just one thing to
consider the third thing to consider is people describe them as being not as
nice for shooting as for example stock a2 front and rear sights but for a backup
site that great now I'll put the some of the things to consider because I mean
that is their primary purpose most people will be buying them as backup
iron sights number four you can buy the rear if you've already got a front and
front post on your site so this is really just making the point you don't
have to buy both you can drop by the front or back whatever you require now
critical reviews there wasn't a lot of criticism a lot of this product because
you know is a very popular product the only real criticism and I'm going to
have to explain this a little bit a lot of people aggravated because they
thought they were buying what they refer to as the real mbus which basically
just stands for Magpul back up iron sights versus the pts model now the pts
model is apparently the version for airsoft you know airsoft
toys and it's of you know a lot lower quality it's not intended for use on a
proper rifle and it seems a lot of people when they thought they were
buying the real ebus actually received the pts version so this is something you
want to be careful of when you purchase it make sure you're buying the real
ebus version when you receive it check that you've got the appropriate
version apparently the pts version actually has pts printed on it so that's
just something to be very careful with now there were in the critical reviews
if you go have a look at them on some of the review websites a lot of people
criticizing different aspects of the quality of construction of the sight
however it's not clear that whether they knew you know whether they actually have
the real mbus or whether they had the pts version and my the impression I got
if you just want to judgment call the impression I got is that most of the
critical reviews talking about lower quality than they were expecting I
suspect it was mostly people who had received a pts version but just didn't
realize that they had received the pts version and they thought they just had a
cheap knockoff or they were just disappointed at magpul's
quality so there you have it basically just make sure you get the proper
mbus version it doesn't really seem to be many other criticisms aside from
what was just explained about the pts version so that's it that's the results
of the research I hope that's helpful for you as usual I'll put all the
relevant links in the description below thank you for watching and we'll catch
you next time
