USA news on Youtube Feb 14 2018

I think I may have finally found a replacement for my eyeliner and it's so

cheap I could literally buy six of these eyeliners for the price of the one I get.

Hello everyone and welcome once again to today's dose of craziness.

I'm your host Vanessa and today we're going to have a battle of the eyeliners.

High end versus budget, and hopefully the budget will replace the high end. Let's

keep our fingers crossed. But before we do that, let us remind ourselves that we

are not being sponsored. This is not a sponsored video by either Essence, Ulta,

Sephora, or Kat Von D. None of them are sponsoring me. I actually bought both of

these eyeliners with my own money and so yes, this is not a sponsored video, this

is not an ad. Let's do this. The way that this is gonna work is that I am going to

go ahead and show you both items, then I'll give you the information that I have on

both items, and then we're gonna do a wear test... like an application test and

then you're gonna see checkups throughout the day. That's the only way

that I can think of putting these to the test.

So let's go ahead and do that. On the high-end side we have a Kat Von D's "Ink

Liner" and this retails for... actually did my homework.

This little guy retails for $20, it comes in ten shades and this one is shade

called "Trooper" which is the black one. There is

a total of .55 milliliters or .019 fluid ounces. It is a felt

tip liner. It is very very slim, however this one, unlike the tattoo liner, this

one gives you a more bold line compared to the very fine line that you would get

with the tattoo liner. I believe, or at least what they told me, was that the

formula was the same, it is just the applicator that differed. If that is

not correct it is the Sephora's ladies fault

cuz that's what she told me. This is waterproof, it is felt, it is

supposed to last 24 hours, it's supposed to give you a bold line and an ultra

rich application. On the budget side we have

the Essence "Pen Eyeliner". This only comes in one color, which is a little bit

of a downside. You can buy it at Ulta. It is worth $2.99. Yes you heard that right;

$2.99, and it has a total of four stars with 413 reviews. I have heard

really good things about it and from the reviews that I read there's some good

things so I am really hoping that this one will work. It is a felt tip eyeliner.

It is also waterproof and this one is supposed to be extremely fine. It's

supposed to be very long-lasting. I'm gonna do a swatch for you guys,

now the first one that I'm gonna do is gonna be the Kat Von D's "Ink Eyeliner",

which is that one right there. As you can see it does give you a very bold

application. On the other side I'm gonna put the felt liner which gives you

that application. Just from the get-go, I can see that definitely the Kat

Von D liner has much more pigment or is applying much more pigment than this one.

That is okay with me. The next part of this experiment is the

actual application; on one side I'm gonna put... well actually on this side I'm gonna

put the Kat Von D eyeliner because I already have experience with it, I

know how to apply it. On this side, which is you know my forte,

I am gonna do the new one just to give it a fair shot. Let me go ahead and

apply the Kat Von D. Don't get me wrong; I love this this product, it works,

it stays on, it doesn't budge, I can literally go to sleep with it - which you

shouldn't - but I can literally go to sleep with it, wake up the next day and

my eyeliner is still perfect, still there. I just I love it, don't get me wrong. I do

love this, however it is, at least for me towards the high end, towards the

expensive side, so I'm always looking for something that I can replace this with

that is much, much, much cheaper. This is the side with the Kat Von D

on and we shall see how it works. The only

thing that I don't like about this felt tip eyeliner, both the ink and the... and

the tattoo one, is that they do dry really fast, which is good for the fact

that I don't have to like stay there and not blink, but it's bad because by the

time I get to the second eye, it's already kind of dried so I have to wait

a little bit and I don't like it. Alright they are not joking when they

say precision. This is an extremely extremely fine application. I had zero

problems making the cat eye look. It applied super quick. I didn't feel like I

was running out of time in the sense that it was drying. It felt

incredibly well, although it does take take a little bit to dry and

I've already kind of smudged the top of my lid. I do think that I'm gonna

have to like squint a little for this one to fully dry but other than that... oh

it's actually already dried! That's really cool! See? It's already dried. This is

definitely a much thinner line application. I would even say it's

thinner than the original "Tattoo Liner". So yes, there it is, this is how they both

look. I kind of like both of them. I don't think you can see any difference between

them except maybe this side is a little bit more bolder, the line is a

little bit thicker than on this one, but other than that I think they're pretty

pretty cool. Now we're gonna see... I'm gonna leave to work... have breakfast, leave

to work, come back, I'll do a checkup while I am coming back, and then I'll

take a nap, do another checkup, dinner check up and then at the end of the day

I'll do another check up. Hopefully I'll remember to do all those checkups. Here

we go; let the experiment begin. Here is the four hour mark. I do have

little bit of black stuff right there. On this side...do I also have it? A little

smidgen on this side as well, but other than that they're pretty

much holding. I don't have anything on my lid on either side. We're doing good for now.

I wanted to do an eight-hour update on this. I'm walking in downtown Calexico.

As you can see the eyeliner... the Kat Von D eyeliner is holding me perfectly. I

love it. It's it's a really good, reliable product. This side is also holding really

well. The precision of the line is still there, there is no smudging, in fact I

think the smudging that I previously talked about and took off was more of

smudging of my mascara than the eyeliner, but now it's holding perfectly

eight hours in. Guess who forgot to do the outro yesterday? But it worked to our

advantage because today was a specifically different day in the valley

where I live. We usually have very extreme days, such as you know, a lot of

heat or a lot of cold, but usually at the beginning of the year the Santa Ana

winds come into play and we get a lot of wind and dirt and the eyes hurt. It

actually worked to our advantage because I was able to test this makeup with wind,

dirt, and tears, and I am happy to say that I have finally found a product that

could replace my usual liner. I have to say that in this battle of the eyeliners

I am calling it a draw because both the Kat Von D and the essence

worked perfectly. As I said, I did have moments where the wind was in my face

and my eyes, since I wear contacts, they immediately started like extremeLY

watering, and I can say that this did not move. There was a little bit, like

around the fourth hour of wearing it, I did notice a little bit of residue, like

right there, but it wasn't anything that I couldn't just like wipe off with my

with my finger. Surprisingly the Kat Von D kind of smudged a little bit up

there, but this one is perfectly... it's perfect, it's perfect. I have to say it is

a draw in the way that they perform, however I do have to take into account

the different in prices. The Kat Von D is $20, it is the "Trooper" and it has a total

of .55 milliliters. The Essence eyeliner is literally $2.99, and when I

bought these they had a buy one get one 50% off at Ulta,

so that was even better. The Essence eyeliner pen has a total of 1 milliliter so it

does have... more! Incredibly this one has more product than the Kat Von D and

surprisingly it works exactly the same. I absolutely love it. I'm not saying in any

way that this are dupes, they are not, I have literally no experience in finding

dupes, so I'm not even gonna go that way, but they do work for me. I only saw like

a tiny bit of smudging which was easily taken off. Quite frankly I love the wing

a lot more with the Essence than with the Kat Von D and the only reason that

is, is because the Kat Von D, the felt tip is extremely thin like that's just not

the reason, but this one dries super, super fast so then I've never been

able to do a perfectly delicate line. I was able to do it on the first try with

this one; again it is superfine and I think there's also another one which is

extra superfine, so its finer than this one. I was able to do a very very thin line,

very perfectly. The only thing that I'm going to

say that I don't like about this, other than the fact that there are no range of

colors, this is the literally the only color that they have, is that this part... I

don't know if you can see it. I'll put it on my nose, but um there is a part right

here that is weird because... like it chops off there and then instantly is the felt

liner, so when you're applying this it's intimidating because it's like

right there, so I don't know. Perhaps they could make this a little bit thinner

towards the end where the felt liner is. That is literally the only thing because

on this one you don't see it, you see it it's almost like a pencil and

right where it ends it's the felt, so it's very easy to use. This one I was

feeling like I was gonna press this little ridge... this little ridge into my

eye and it was gonna be a mess. It is extremely easy to use other than that. So

yes, I am calling it a draw, both of them. I'm just I'm happy because I finally

found something that I can use every single day of my life and that it will

stay in place but won't cost me extreme amounts of money and by extreme I mean

twenty dollars. I can just leave this one for like special events, where I want a

dramatic eye or where I'm going on a party or stuff like that, that it's like

more high-end. Definitely love this one's much more. I hope you guys like
