Has Trump backed himself into an immigration corner

WASHINGTON President Donald Trump's victory in Washington's shutdown standoff could be

short-lived if he doesn't also find a way to deliver a win to "Dreamers," providing

legal status to people who were brought to the United States illegally as children and

will face deportation in March absent a federal reprieve.

It was Trump who set a March 5 deadline by rescinding President Barack Obama's Deferred

Action for Childhood Arrivals program in September, then calling on Congress to come up with a

fix.

On the campaign trail, Trump promised to crack down on illegal immigration, and polls show

that a significant minority of his base would prefer to deport Dreamers. But overall, according

to an NBC/Survey Monkey poll released Tuesday, two-thirds of Americans support Obama's DACA

program.

And therein lies the rub: If Trump can't come to an agreement with Democrats in Congress

by March 5, he'll have to decide whether to infuriate immigration hard-liners by unilaterally

extending the DACA deadline or risk further energizing Democrats and alienating moderate

Republicans by leaving Dreamers vulnerable to deportation.White House press secretary

Sarah Huckabee Sanders declined to say Monday whether, absent a deal, Trump would deport

Dreamers.

"We haven't determined that," she said. "We're hopeful that we don't have to do that and

that we don't have to get there."

But in October, Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla., said Trump had assured him privately that

the deadline would be extended if no deal is reached.

"The president's comment to me was that: 'We put a six-month deadline out there. Let's

work it out. If we can't get it worked out in six months, we'll give it some more time,'"

Lankford said.

It's Democrats in Congress led by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York

who are playing games with the fate of the Dreamers, said former Trump adviser Michael

Caputo. Schumer had offered last week to support Trump's wall but later withdrew that proposal.

"By taking this new position today, Schumer is pushing the president to make an inadvisable

decision on deportation of the very people who Schumer wants to save," Caputo said. "Thats

a suckers bet and not one that the presidents going to make."

He predicted that, if no deal emerges, Trump will simply extend the deadline.

"This is a political equation that Chuck Schumer has put up on the chalkboard. All the president

is going to do is take the eraser, walk up to the chalkboard and erase it," Caputo said.

"The only person playing brinksmanship with these Dreamers is Chuck Schumer."

Police called to Michael Gove's house after daughter's 15th birthday party descends into boozy chaos - Duration: 1:54.

Police called to Michael Gove's house after daughter's 15th birthday party descends into

boozy chaos

Police were called to Michael Goves house after his daughters 15th birthday party

descended in to drug and booze-fuelled chaos, it has been reported.

The Tory Environment Secretarys wife, columnist Sarah Vine, revealed officers arrived at their

home to investigate a noise complaint after the bash go out of hand.

She wrote in her Daily Mail column that she had to manhandle a group of champagne-swigging

private schoolboys out of the party, leaving a trail of broken glass, cigarette butts

and assorted liquids in their wake.

She also revealed she confiscated one very dodgy-looking cigarette.

Ms Vine said her daughter and her well-behaved female friends were visibly upset that

her party had not gone the way they planned.

She said she had banned alcohol from the party, hiding the familys stash of booze before

guests arrived.

She also insisted on a guest list to prevent undesirable elements access to their 4m

pad.

But despite bouncers being placed on the door, she wrote, the atmosphere turned nasty

when a group of teenagers from a very prestigious London day school arrived.

She said the boys set up camp outside in a gazebo, and were plying the girls with

drink and cigarettes.

On discovering the interlopers, Ms Vine says she waded through the chaotic party, confiscating

bottles of Champagne, wine, spirits and alco-pops from the youngsters.

After seeing how upset her daughter and friends were, she says, she turned on the lights,

turned off the music and ordered everyone out.

But she says she had to physically push some of the boys out of the door.

Neighbours called the police after the ejected youngsters started singing football songs

outside on the street.

Its not thought Mr Gove was at home at the time of the party.

The Note Mueller's footsteps tread closer to the White House in Russia probe - Duration: 2:21.

The Note: Mueller's footsteps tread closer to the White House in Russia probe

Robert Mueller has a particular way of making his presence known.

And his footsteps are starting to be heard just outside the White House itself.

We continue to know approximately as much about the special counsels investigation

as Mueller wants us to know.

Keep that in mind while digesting the news that his team has spoken to both Attorney

General Jeff Sessions in recent days and reportedly to fired FBI Director James Comey as well.

Now comes news that Mueller wants to learn more directly from President Donald Trump

about the circumstances around the firing of Comey and former national security adviser

Michael Flynn.

Mueller sure looks like hes trying to get the presidents attention.

He appears close to reaching at least some conclusions in his investigation, based on

who hes bringing in.

The questions confronting the president: Can he afford, from a legal perspective, to cooperate?

And can he afford, from a political perspective, not to?

The RUNDOWN with MaryAlice Parks

This is the president who talked about creating a deportation force during the campaign.

The president, who his first month in office, signed an executive order calling for a three-fold

increase in the number of Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers and giving them

wide latitude in determining who exactly to prioritize for removal.

Now, with six weeks left until the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program officially

ends (again, the presidents decision), the White House is dodging questions about

whether President Trump is comfortable with the so-called Dreamers being deported.

Tuesday, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said only that the president is willing

to sign a permanent solution, though 87 percent of Americans think the nearly 800,000 Dreamers

the undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children should be allowed

to stay in the only country they know.

After months of debate, it is hard to see how the situation for these Dreamers and their

families has changed at all.

It is possible the ticking clock and pubic commitments from Republicans will spring lawmakers

into action this time, but what if that doesnt happen?

Sturgeon denies Union flag ban from government buildings - Duration: 2:16.

Sturgeon denies Union flag ban from government buildings

The First Minister has denied cutting the number of days the Union flag is flown from

Scottish Government buildings.

The Scottish Daily Mail and the Daily Telegraph both reported on Wednesday that the flag will

be flown only on Remembrance Sunday, as opposed to 15 occasions it would previously be hoisted

for.

Nicola Sturgeon confirmed Scottish Government guidance for civil servants on the matter

had changed, but it was altered to simply reflect existing practice.

The First Minister said the devolved administration had flown the Lion Rampant on royal occasions

instead of the Union flag since 2010.

Former First Minister Alex Salmond said he ordered the change after speaking to the Queen

about the matter at Balmoral in 2009.

"I remember the occasion very well," Salmond said in a post on his website.

"Her Majesty asked me if the Lion Rampant was a popular flag in Scotland.

"I was able to assure her that it was and indeed much beloved of Scottish football and

rugby fans.

Thus I brought the new policy into effect and left the union flag flying, as appropriate,

at armed forces day and Remembrance Sunday."

The SNP leader branded the stories "nonsense" and "untrue" on Twitter late on Tuesday night

in response to the front pages of both newspapers Scottish Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser compared

the First Minister's tweets to those sent by the US president Donald Trump.

Fraser said: "This is a desperate attempt by Nicola Sturgeon to spin her way out of

trouble.

"The SNP is more interested in lowering Union Flags than raising standards in schools and

hospitals.

"The First Minister's Trump-style Twitter denial by candlelight last night does nothing

to change the facts."

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Government said: "There has been no recent change whatsoever

to the policy or practice relating to the flags that are flown from government buildings.

"The Royal Banner (Lion Rampant) has been flown on Royal occasions since 2010.

"The policy has not been changed under the current First Minister - the public guidance

has simply been updated by officials in response to queries to match longstanding practice."

How To Keep Your Cat Warm in Winter! Tips For Warming Your Cat and Keeping Them Happy in Winter! - Duration: 3:32.

Hi guys welcome back to the channel! It is Claire and Rags and it is definitely winter

there is more than just a nip in the air, it is very chilly outside especially here

in the UK! Now while it's important for us as humans to keep warm in the winter

It is just as important for our cats. Now most cats do you have a built-in

fur coat to keep them warm but if your cat is an indoor cat or slightly older

they can feel the cold. So Rags and I are here with some tips to keep your cat

nice and toasty warm during the winter months. Now you can get your cat a heated

bed not only will this help to keep your cat toasty warm on the cold days but it

will make you very popular with your cat! Now as cat owners we know that they

absolutely love finding any source of heat whether that's your lap or your

laptop though they are more than guaranteed to love it i heated bed. Now

this is not just a good way to keep your cat warm, but if you have a slightly

older cats like I do with Rags and having heated bed it's a great way to ease

their aches and pains. Ragsy likes sitting on hers so much it's actually quite hard to

get her off it. Now heated beds are widely available and tend to be quite

inexpensive but if you do get one you just need to make sure you read the

instructions carefully and you don't leave it unattended or on overnight if

it isn't meant to. Well if heated beds aren't your cat's cup of tea you can try

giving them lots of access to it some spots. Now we all know that cat

absolutely love basking into in the sun's rays and no matter what time of

year. The way to sun can be even though it's cold outside it was

coming in through a window it can be glorious and your cat will love it

What need to do really is make sure that any windows that do get Sun the curtains are

open and there are plenty of spaces for your cat to lounge around in the Sun

whether that be on a window sill or just on the floor somewhere where they can spend the afternoon

Now maintaining your cat's activity level especially during

the winter and colder months it is a great way to not only make sure your cat

stays nice and toasty warm, but both helps them keep active and healthy

Now a lot of people during winter like to keep their cats indoors as it does get

dark a lot and the way that can be very unforgiving what you need to make sure

that your cats don't get bored while being shot inside make sure you play

with your cat often and have lots of little games and poked around the house

and make sure you just spend a little time playing with your cat

Not only is it good to make sure your cat isn't bored doesn't get cold but it's great

way to bond with your cat and lastly during these winter months you might

want to keep an eye out for cats you don't have a nice cozy forever home if

you notice any strays in your area you could leave something in your shares

maybe a little bed and some fresh straw or a few blankets and make sure there's

fresh water and food out for them. Now winter is a particularly harsh time to

be stuck outdoors so if you can't catch these stray cats and take to a shelter

You can at least provide them some Wellborn for the night. Thanks for

watching guys I hope you found these tips useful and interesting and if you

have any additional tips on how to keep your cats at warm this winter let me

know in the comment section below Rags and I absolutely love to know about you

and your cats. If you did like the video guys please give a big thumbs up and hit

by clicking the little bell button. Thanks again guys and Rags and I will see you in our next video! Bye!
