The epicenter was 280 km south-east of

Kodiak, located on of the same name in the southern
parts of Alaska.
The earthquake focussed at a depth of 25 km.
In the city of Kodiak included warning sirens
of the need for evacuation to the hill
deep into the island because of the threat tsunami.
Eyewitnesses report about 13-meter waves that hit
the coast of the island immediately after the earthquake.
