Three weeks in USA in an RV Summer 2017
- Good morning. It's Monday morning
we've been thinking where we will head next
Our plans went awry thanks to the road closure
even though we didn't have an exact plan we had a rough idea where we wanted to go
The toilets here are a little bit basic
There's all sorts of animals
Yesterday when Anni was in the shower
She suddenly felt something on her leg and there was a huge spider crawling up
It gave quite a spook
Especially when you don't know what's poisonous here and what isn't
Everything can be a bit scary
Looks like it's around 430 kilometers to the Ghost Town
so we probably won't get there today
but let's drive and see what we find on the way
We stopped here to buy some fruits
There's a sign next to the road that says fruits for sale so we decided to do a pit stop here
- Let's go buy some fruit
I've been waiting to get some fresh fruits
- Quite big plantations here
and a huge ranch over there
- They only have those shelters where they can go to rest
- Took too early turn so I stopped to have a look if we can find some place to eat
where we could get anything to eat
starting to get pretty hungry now
well..
Let's see soon. - We have some food in the car
But we'd like some prepared food, right?
- Yeah - We wont die of starvation, don't worry
- It's starting to get warm now
we also found a parking spot so we can go grab some food
there's McDonalds and some other options around
- There's also Mexican grill - And Burger King
- Quite a few options
- We can choose where we want to go
- How do we get to McDonalds? (Democratic decision happened pretty quickly)
- The McDonalds wi-fi wasn't really working so we couldn't upload any videos
Oh well, I guess we keep going
Let's get some petrol and continue our journey - I guess so
- These are pretty fascinating as they sometimes ask for your ZIP code
Sometimes they don't ask for anything, and sometimes you can input zeros in, like now
- I'm just here to check how to fill the petrol in
It's pretty easy for me as I usually just sit in the car and wait for things to happe
Though we have agreed that Petteri deals with these things and I do the dishes
- It's quite funny how it's other way around than at home, the black is petrol and the other one is diesel
I hope, at least
- Anni was looking at the forecast that says it'll be 43C (109F) next week here in Bakersville
I don't think it's even the warmest area around
Might even get a sunburn out there
We've spent most of the day driving, but we'll probably drive all the way to the Ghost Town
We'll spend a night somewhere around there
It's only half two so we are not in a hurry
- There's a drive-in movie theatre, this says it'll make an excellent date night
- The wind is crazy here - Yeah
- And then the journey continues but life feels good
- We made it to Koa campsite here in Barstow
I think Ghost Town is close here so we'll leave that for tomorrow
Pretty nice campsite, they should have pools and everything
I'm sure we manage one night here pretty nicely
Maybe even two, they seem to have space for it at least
- Finally some warmth and some sun
- Oh look who we found lounging in a hammock
How's it going?
- Pretty well
You'd want to be sweaty to jump in to the pool
- Right
- But it's not very cold
- We were reading about the Ghost Town and it looks like a pretty fascinating and big place
We'll head there tomorrow
I think the Ghost Town is over there
It's nice to sit there and look at the desert
You almost feel like you're in a western
Makes you think of cowboys riding there fighting native americans
That kind of adventures
In the next episode we'll be visiting an interesting and old mining town
