We have today the infamous Earthquaker Arpanoid
I know a lot of people who bought these
And just couldn't really figure it out...
Or didn't take the time to really integrate it into their pedal board so...
It just sort of became this anomaly
I've extensively worked with it...
I unfortunately sold mine a while back cuz
I was out of a job and it was still hot
And they gave me a lot for it so...
Such is life...
But giving this thing a second run...
I gotta say- might have to go back into my board
So, um... Clean tone....
Actually, let's do it on the mini humbucker (by Porter Pickups)
Cuz thing likes a little bit more of the daddy voice, being a filter. Um...
So let's kick her on
The rate is gonna control how fast the arpeggiation happens
The step is going to control how much of the arpeggiation you get
Wet obviously is how much pedal
Dry is obviously how much guitar
So,
kickin' her on in the major side of the scale here in your clicker
We're gonna do the up arpeggiation
There's also a switch for the middle [Up/Down] arpeggiation and a down arpeggiation
You'll also kind of see what they mean as we go so let's do it
A'right, that's cool and all...
But like,
I think the real charm of this thing is
When you turn the wet all the way up and you just kill your dry signal
And that's actually gonna be a better way to describe how this thing works
So I want to put the step all the way up so you can see
Sort of the depth of what this thing can do
I think the first... Um...
Setting here that we're using is kind of like a super major
Just to give you an idea this thing can go super slow
Or it can go wicked, wicked fast...

Uses it occasionally like in the middle of a solo
Just like kick some stuff up
And I know Nick Reinhart from the band Tera Melos
Both of them from Pedals and Effects

They both use (have used) it pretty excessively so...
That's the first setting in up mode
Let's hear it in up/down...
Sort of same idea just up and down, let's turn the rate up a bit... (All the way up)
Pretty sweet
Um... so let's turn it back down... We're gonna go to... The down setting...
Pretty self explanatory
Let's go to section 2 which I think is a little bit more...
I don't know...
It's kind of 'octave-y'...
I mean, again this is the going down setting...
It's kind of a little more chromatic I guess...
Um... Turn it way up...
Again it responds to single notes, and chords...
That's some really cool, like... Asteroids stuff.
Some power chords...
Alright, so let's hear it... I'll turn the rate back down a little bit, let's hear it going up and down in mode 2 once again...
Oh That's fun...
Okay number 3...
Oh sorry excuse me number 2 on up
Again it can go suuuper slow...
Anyway, uhh... Let's go to position 3
Which like, let's see how to describe this...
This is like a little bit of everything...
Definitely more chromatic
I think this one's a little more fun for doing like, the video game noises...
Maybe up and down too...

You know these might just be in different steps and intervals... I really don't know, cuz...
I just like havin' fun with it...

4, is a major randomizer uhh... I think...
Yeah... a little bit like you would find on like the
Zvex or um... The Obi-Wah
Or the Line6 filter... Um...
The filter mod, the FM4...
Just kind of random but in major so,
Let's kick the rate back- see what it's gonna kinda do...
A'most like a random tone generator too. Um... Let's turn it a bit up...
Now remember, this is goin' up...
Turn the rate...
Alright, let's hear this thing in up/down cuz that's super cool.
I'll roll the rate back...
Roll the rate up...
Oh yeah, that's just a bucket of fun.
Let's see on the down...
(Rate back to 12 o'clock)
(Rate all the way down) That one's kind of 'voice-y"

Okay, so now we're gonna do the same thing except-
On the minor side of things...
Remember this 8 different sorts of arpeggiations so...
This is going to be the minor...
I believe number 6 is sort of the, um...
Pair to number 1 so it's a little more... natural I guess...
Of course in minor...
So- you know...

Going down...
Which is really cool. That's very 'video game-y-sound-y'

The 6 setting not the 5 setting is the is the...
