So, my name is Francine Murphy. I work for a company called Furuno USA which is a marine electronics company. We're a Wholesale
Distributor in the United States, Canada, and now Latin America.
I've worked with Jacob for a little over 12 years.
He came on board with us when he was just a young man. He has come a long, long way in the 12 plus years that he's been with us and
has really grown with the company. He has a wicked sense of humor. He is very smart. Our employees tend to stay with us for a
very long time. I want to say the average tenure for employees here is 10 plus years.
The majority of our employees have been with us over 20 years. We take pride in that and it's because we try
very, very hard to take care of our employees.
He is our professional maintenance worker and so, when he is not here to stock supplies, to
make coffee, to pick up garbage, he is sorely missed and having to replace him is very challenging.
It's the business's, locally, nationally, it's our responsibility to look to hire people of all abilities.
To look to inclusion not as something that's foreign to them but it should be the norm in every business.
So, as a business, I think we need to be more innovative when it comes to hiring practices. I think we need to look more outside of the box
when it comes to our recruiting practices, and I think there is a very large untapped resource in our community when we look for our hiring needs.
Overall, it has been probably one of the best experiences that we have had here at Furuno
in having Jacob on board with us.
