Who is allowed to use Anointing Oil? That is an easy question to answer.
Everyone is allowed to use Anointing Oil, just not for every occasion.
There are different types of Anointing and different
occasions to use it for.
Everyone, that is every Christian
is allowed to use Anointing Oil for personal use
and for use in their family. For example, a man may Anoint his wife
parents may Anoint their children. You can also use Anointing Oil
during ministry, when youre praying for someone and when the Holy Spirit leads you to Anoint that person.
There is an exception. When someone is sick
the Bible does give an instruction which can be found in James 5:14-15.
Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders
of the church, and let them pray over him
anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
And the prayer of faith will save the sick
and the Lord will raise him up.
And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
God always respects the authority structure
that He has given. Therefore, we should always follow
His instructions first. But there is a distinction
between the Anointing for the sick and the Anointing
for personal use. Those are two different types of Anointing.
The personal Anointing can always be used.
When it comes to healing, the leaders of your Church
have a responsibility for your welfare.
God has appointed them, but He also holds them
accountable and they will have to give account
for what they did with that responsibility
when they appear before the judgment seat of Christ.
So call them first and let them pray for the sick. Meanwhile, just continue the personal use of Anointing Oil
and use it daily.
Throughout the whole history of Israel
the Jewish people used Anointing Oil on a daily basis.
Personally.
Everyone used Anointing Oil to Anoint themselves daily. In the first Churches, all the Christians used
Anointing Oil daily for their own personal use.
And not only the first Churches, for this continued during
the first nine centuries of the Church.
Until some religious leaders decided that the Anointing Oil
shouldnt be used by ordinary people
but only by leaders.
But those were man made decisions, Church rules that are not in line
with the will or the Word of God.
It was and is a strategy of the enemy, to rob the Church from its power. The thing we must understand about God is that He is always consistent.
He doesnt tell you to do something
to tell you something entirely different the next day. When He speaks, His Word stands.
One of the best examples of the personal use of Anointing Oil
can be found in Matthew. In Matthew 6:17, Jesus tells
His disciples: when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face.
Why did He tell them that? As a religious act during fasting?
Absolutely not.
Anointing yourself was such a common use
that all people walked around with their faces Anointed.
The thing was that the Pharisees and Scribes loved to show
that they were fasting, in order to receive
the honor of man. They did so by putting on a sad face and
by not Anointing themselves. When you didnt Anoint yourself
in these times, you really stood out and the people could see that something was going on with you. It was also a common use that you
didnt Anoint yourself during times of fasting
so it wasnt a strange thing to do.
The Pharisees and Scribes did it in order to make it visible
to the people that they were fasting.
To show everyone how religious they behaved.
Jesus dealt with this issue, by saying that when you are fasting
that you need to do that for our Father in heaven
and not to be seen by man. Thus He commanded His disciples
to act as they always did, when they were fasting.
In other words, they needed to wash their faces, as they always did
and they needed to Anoint their heads, as they always did.
By doing so, they looked exactly like anyone else, without anyone
noticing that they were fasting.
There is so much more to share about the Anointing and the Anointing Oil.
You know, a few years ago I was sitting here...
in this exact spot, thinking I should really quickly write
a few studies about the Anointing and the Anointing Oil.
And I thought I knew most of it
most of what there is to know about these topics.
At that point the Holy Spirit stopped me and said:
There is more, there is more.
But are you willing to go after it?
I am willing to give it to you
but are you willing to take this challenge and to go after it?
Well, I took the challenge and I ended up with 345 verses
in the Bible that speak about
the Anointing and the Anointing Oil.
And the amazing thing is that it is not only
the Old Testament that speaks about
the Anointing and the Anointing Oil.
The New Testament actually says a lot about it as well.
And now you can learn everything that Ive learned
throughout this journey, which took me a half year.
Because after all my studying and taking all these notes
I ended up with a book, called The Anointed Bride.
Today you can order your copy
and learn the same things that I have learned
in that half year.
