USA news on Youtube Oct 22 2017

Hi! I am Simon... and I am Maja.

And we are trying to get a pass to the project which is co-financed by European Union.

We hope that today's material will bring us closer to this wonderful project.

And soon we will be able to cooperate with our friends from France, Italy and Turkey.

Meanwhile, we would like to invite you to the world of migration...

Now, we are in front of the historical building of the Marine Terminal in Gdynia at the French Embankment.

From this place, during the interwar period, Poles crowdly emigrated, sailing out to the unknown America.

Moreover, the political situation in the country after the war contributed to the famous transatlantic, MS Batory,

leaving Gdynia empty and the first passengers had embarked in Copenhagen

and later in British Southampton.

This fact did not disturbed the extravagant farewell blessings for the MS Batory,

solemn speeches of officials with an orchestra accompaniment.

This situation changed after the death of Joseph Stalin in the 50's.

Due to the death of Stalin, Polish emigration grew stronger again.

Today, during the holiday period,

the most modern cruise ships moor here

and the old building of the Marine Terminal has been converted into the Emigration Museum.

My name is Michal Sempolowicz, I am a doctor of history.

I am working in the Emigration Museum in Gdynia as a Research Officer.

People have travelled forever.

Emigration involves people going abroad while immigration means people coming.

Poles went abroad especially in the 19th century to the European countries, overseas countries.

For example to the United States or to Brazil.

Then, people could see the difference between wealth and the chance to go abroad.

To Brazil went Poles who were less wealthy,

because the government of Brazil, in the 19th century, gave away "free tickets" for ships.

At the moment there are about 2 million emigrants who have gone abroad after the Polish access to the European Union.

In general, there are about 20 million Poles outside the country.

Plenty of them are descendants of emigrants from the 19th century.

So, we can say that in Poland there live about 40 million, just inside, 40 million Poles

and half more is still abroad.

My name is Sasha Reznikow.

I have been an actor at the Music Theatre of Danuta Baduszkowa in Gdynia for 7 years.

What was the biggest problem for me after coming to the country by the Vistula River?

I do not know... I did not have any problems.

I learned the Polish language in about three months,

because it is quite similar to Belorussian.

I do not know... the problem was that I had to leave my country.

That was the biggest problem.

What do I think about Poles?

Thanks to Poles I am here so I can't dislike them.

I like them. Very. They are very good.

Poles are very hospitable.

So, truly, 10 points.

My name is Izzetin Eski.

I am forty four. I have been living in Poland for 21 years.

What's more?

I am an economist. I have got a business in Poland.

I am married. I have got two sons.

My wife is from Poland.

I think that the biggest problem was the linguistic problem,

because Polish is a very difficult language

and to learn Polish I had spent great time.

What do I think about Poles? It is a very good question.

In my opinion, Poles are a very diligent nation, truly.

Education is on a very high level.

Specialists are very good too.
