Jimmy Kimmel Escalates Senator War: "He Either Doesn't Understand His Own Bill or He Lied to Me"
Kimmel's feud with Bill Cassidy over health care reform plans continued for a second night.
Jimmy Kimmel has a lot more to say about Sen. Bill Cassidy and his and Sen. Lindsey Graham's recent health care bill to replace the Affordable Care Act.
After restating his feelings on the new bill, Kimmel asked, "Oh I get it, I don't understand because I'm a talk show host right? Which part am I not understanding? Or could it be that I do understand and that you got caught with your GOPenis out?" Saying he "doesn't want to turn this into a Kanye and Taylor Swift-type situation," he said the situation can be equated to a bad pitch at a Yankees game where "[Cassidy] made a pitch that looked pretty good at first….but then it took a dangerous turn — and hit us right in the nuts."
A clearly angry Kimmel added: "He made a total about face. Which means he either doesn't understand his own bill — or he lied to me."
He then took to task others, including Sen. Graham and Fox News' Brian Kilmeade, who had issues with his previous remarks on the bill. After playing a clip of Kilmeade in which he blasts "Hollywood elites like comedian Jimmy Kimmel for pushing their politics on the rest of the country," Kimmel fires back, calling Kilmeade "particularly annoying" because he "kisses my ass" whenever he sees the comedian like a "little boy meeting Batman."
Kimmel continued his tear on Kilmeade by saying: "He's been to the show; he follows me on Twitter; he asked me to write a blurb for his book which I did; he calls my agent looking for projects. He is dying to be a member of the Hollywood elite. The only reason he's not part of the Hollywood elite is because nobody will hire him to be one."
And as for Sen. Graham, Kimmel called him out because "he lashed out at me for not calling Senator Cassidy before I went on the air — I guess to give him a chance to lie to me again over the telephone. " Ultimately, Kimmel was more forgiving of Graham, though, because "he is one of the few Republicans who stands up to Donald Trump" and he "happens to look a lot like my Grandma Jane, who is now deceased."
These latest comments come after Cassidy, speaking on Wednesday's edition of CNN's New Day, claimed the late-night host "does not understand" and that the bill will actually "protect those with pre-existing conditions." Kimmel had first slammed the bill, and Cassidy, in a candid opening monologue on his show Tuesday. Kimmel said Cassidy "was not very honest" and "lied right to my face" when the senator appeared on the show back in May and said any future bills would pass "the Jimmy Kimmel test," which Kimmel explained is an idea that no child should be denied health care, emergency or otherwise, because the family cannot afford it.
Kimmel claims the new bill proposed last week does not pass that test, and also does not do any of the things Cassidy had reportedly promised — including "coverage for all, no discrimination based on pre-existing conditions, lower premiums for middle-class families, and no lifetime caps."
Health care is a subject Kimmel is very passionate about. His nearly 5-month-old son, William "Billy" Kimmel, was born with congenital heart disease and had to undergo open-heart surgery at just 3 days old.
President Trump also got in on the action, tweeting on Wednesday in support of Sen. Cassidy. "Senator (Doctor) Bill Cassidy is a class act who really cares about people and their Health(care), he doesn't lie-just wants to help people!" Kimmel then responded to that tweet with: "That's great news Mr. President! Does that mean he'll vote against the horrible bill he wrote?"
Kimmel also addressed the tweet exchange on tonight's show, saying, "There's no way President Trump read this bill — that he says is great! He just wants to get rid of it because Obama's name is on it. The Democrats should just rename it Ivankacare — guaranteed it gets him on board."
He added, "Can you imagine Donald Trump actually sitting down to read a health care bill? It's like trying to imagine a dog doing yoga. It just doesn't compute, you know?"

President Trump's 'Nambia' remarks at U N |donald trump nambia| nambia||trump nambia - Duration: 1:07.
Trump praises health care of Nambia, a nonexistent African country
(CNN)President Donald Trump lavished praise on the health care system of Nambia during a speech at the United Nations. But there's one little problem -- there's no such country.
"In Guinea and Nigeria, you fought a horrifying Ebola outbreak," Trump told African leaders gathered Wednesday. "Nambia's health system is increasingly self-sufficient."
Trump mentioned Nambia twice during the session attended by leaders of several nations, including Ghana, Namibia and Uganda.
The gaffe lit up social media, with many speculating whether he meant Namibia, Zambia or Gambia, all of which have names that sound similar.
The White House later clarified that Trump was talking about the southwestern African nation of Namibia. Namibia dodged the Ebola outbreak that killed thousands in Africa two years ago and affected several nations, including the United States.
At the time, Namibia revamped its health care system to ward off an Ebola outbreak and treat sudden infections.
The tiny nation of 2.5 million people is one of the world's biggest producers of uranium. It shares borders with Angola, Zambia, South Africa and Botswana. Nambia aside, Trump also applauded the continent's economic progress during the speech.
"Africa has tremendous business potential," he said. "I have so many friends going to your countries, trying to get rich. I congratulate you. They're spending a lot of money." Meanwhile, here are nine reasons to spend your money in Namibia.

puerto rico hurricane |hurricane maria puerto rico| puerto rico weather | puerto rico hurricane - Duration: 2:17.
San Juan, Puerto Rico (CNN)Hurricane Maria regained strength Thursday morning as it continued to ravage the Caribbean, with the Turks and Caicos islands next in its crosshairs.
The Category 3 storm lashed the northern coast of the Dominican Republic with heavy rain and 115-mph winds. It is likely to strengthen over the warm waters of the Turks and Caicos, CNN meteorologist Pedram Javaheri said. The low-lying islands are particularly at risk of high storm surges.
The best case scenario, he said, is that the storm could skirt the island chain 40-50 miles to the east.
Dominican Republic Bracing for flooding Dominican officials said they were taking a cue from neighboring Puerto Rico's experience -- and were concerned about the potential for flooding from the heavy rainfall. After Hurricane Irma passed through the country just days ago, the ground is still saturated and the rivers swollen.
As Maria regained strength early Thursday, the country was not expecting a direct landfall -- the center of the storm was about 43 miles (70 km) west of Punta Cana, a popular resort city.
Airports have been shut down but are expected reopen at noon Thursday. Stranded tourists have been moved into interior rooms of their hotels, leaving oceanfront suites and villas empty.
Puerto Rico: '100% without power' Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rosselló said Maria is the "most devastating storm to hit the island this century, if not in modern history." The island's energy grid took such a severe blow from Maria that restoring power to everyone may take months, he told CNN.
The US territory has been through a long recession and is deeply in debt and has a state-owned power grid that is "a little bit old, mishandled and weak," Rosselló told "Anderson Cooper 360˚." "It depends on the damage to the infrastructure," he said. "I'm afraid it's probably going to be severe. If it is ... we're looking at months as opposed to weeks or days."
Retired army veteran Manuel Torres called the devastation of Maria the worst he'd ever seen. His mother's house in La Perla, an oceanfront community in old San Juan, was completely destroyed. Emerging after the storm had passed, Torres found their three-story home reduced to two stories, and was missing a roof.
Angela Magaña, a UFC fighter who lives in the area, said neighbors were helping each other. "We need cleanup, water, food, and generators," she told CNN. "There are a lot of old people here who are going without necessities. We need to rebuild and restructure, and we need prayers. Any kind of help we can get because it's a mess right now."
While the winds have subsided as the hurricane continues to move to the northwest, continued heavy rain in the mountainous country means there is still heavy flooding. The National Weather Service in San Juan tweeted in the early hours of Thursday that the island is now "completely under a Flash Flood Warning. If possible, move to higher ground NOW." The weather service also tweeted: "catastrophic flash flooding continues with multiple Flash Flood."
The island's airports are closed until Friday if not Saturday, CNN's Derek Van Dam said, pending proper inspection. US President Donald Trump sent a message to Rosselló via his verified Twitter account, saying the US government is "with you and the people of Puerto Rico. Stay safe!"

Big Brother 19| big brother finale| who won big brother 19| big brother 19 finale time - Duration: 1:47.
Big Brother season finale: And the winner is...
The inevitable didn't happen. It was a season of little resistance for Paul Abrahamian. He entered the Big Brother house as a returning finalist playing against a group of star-struck newbies, was given three weeks of safety off the bat by fans, and not once was on the block for potential eviction. So it was no surprise when Paul made it all the way to the end of Big Brother's 19th season.
But in a shocker even more surprising than final HOH Josh Martinez's decision to evict partner Christmas Abbot and go against the far savvier Paul in the finale, the jury awarded the $500,000 prize to emotional roller coaster Josh. It was a somewhat stunning ending to an otherwise painfully predictable season.
The evening began with the first part of the final HOH competition, which included — and this is not a typo — unicorns farting in contestants' faces. Paul won that phase, automatically advancing to part three and forcing Christmas and Josh to battle it out in round two.
Josh won that round, knocking down cardboard cutouts of evicted houseguests to answer corresponding quiz questions. That set up a final HOH competition between Paul and Josh in the traditional guess-how-jurors-answered-questions challenge, which was won by Josh.
That left Josh with the big decision as to whom to bring with him to the final two. And in a surprising move, he chose to evict Christmas and go up against Paul in the end. It turned out to be the right decision, as Josh then defeated Paul to be named the champion of season 19. Our recap will be up shortly (UPDATE: read our recap of the finale here) and come back tomorrow for interviews with Julie Chen and the final three.

Holidays in any faith are about many things, and luckily one of those things is food. Rosh Hashana, the Jewish new year, comes with one of the best lists of traditional and symbolic foods of any holiday, especially if you have a sweet tooth. This year, Rosh Hashana begins at sundown on Wednesday and ends at nightfall on Friday. Here's a list of some of the foods Jews might eat as they celebrate:
Apple dipped in honey: One of the most iconic combinations of Rosh Hashana—and one of the most delicious—slices of apple dipped in honey are meant to symbolize the hope for a sweet year ahead. A blessing can be recited beforehand, usually in Hebrew. The translation: "Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, who creates the fruit of the tree. May it be Your will to renew for us a good and sweet year."
Honey cake: The same idea applies for honey cake, with its sweetness a tangible and tasty manifestation of the hope for a sweet new year. Recipes differ—and many families swear by a particular one—but the best honey cakes are moist (get over it) and sweet with a depth and flair contributed by spices such as cloves, cinnamon or allspice, as well as ingredients like coffee, tea, orange juice or alcohol (like rum, rye or whiskey). It's not uncommon for the baker in the family to make several honey cakes and deliver a few to friends and family to wish them, "Shana tova!" or "Happy new year!"
Pomegranate: The pomegranate symbolizes a hope to have a year filled with mitzvot, or "good deeds," just as the fruit is filled with seeds. New fruits: On the second night of the holiday, the table might include a new fruit, i.e. a fruit that has recently come into season or one that hasn't been eaten in the last year, to symbolize the new start. Pomegranates might double as a new fruit for some; others might use star fruits, lychees or other fruits.
Round challah: Challah is a delicious staple of the Jewish table. But on Rosh Hashana it takes a different shape—instead of an elongated braid, Jews often serve round loaves for the new year. In some interpretations, the shape symbolizes the cyclical nature of time, of seasons and holidays that repeat. Others compare the shape to a crown, alluding to the leadership of God and serving as a reminder that God is central to the Jewish faith. Like the apples, challah on Rosh Hashana is sometimes dipped in honey. Beforehand, some recite the HaMotzi blessing, which translates, "Blessed are You, Lord, our God, King of the universe, who brings forth bread from the earth."
Head of a fish: Not all the foods of Rosh Hashana are as appetizing and sweet as the rest. Some holiday tables will include the head of a fish (or sometimes of a ram or another kosher animal). The blessing here translates, "May it be Your will, Lord our God and the God of our fathers, that we be a head and not a tail." In other words, since Rosh Hashana is the "head of the year," the literal head represents the hope to be at the "head of the class" in the coming year, the desire to be a leader rather than a follower and the wish for a year of good fortune. The fish head can also symbolize fertility, prosperity and abundance.
Dates, Leeks, Beets: Several symbolic Rosh Hashana foods are the result of puns or plays on words. For example, the date, or tamar in Hebrew, is a pun on the word tam, which is the verb "end." The leek, or karsi in Aramaic, is related to the Hebrew word karat, which is the verb "cut," or karas, which means "collapse." The beet, or selek in Hebrew, is similar to the Hebrew verb sillek, which means "take away," "dismiss" or "banish." The related blessing translates, "May it be Your will, Lord our God and the God of our fathers, that there come an end to our enemies, haters and those who wish evil upon us," or "...that our enemies, haters, and those who wish evil upon us shall be cut down" or that they will be "dismissed."
Gourd, Squash: Again with the puns! One word for pumpkin, gourd or squash in Hebrew is kara, which is similar to the words for "rip" and "announce." The related blessing is, "May it be Your will, Lord our God and the God of our fathers, that the evil of our verdicts be ripped, and that our merits be announced before you."
